Assume I have no vices. Should I still visit Thailand when the alternative is to spend more time in nearby places like Cambodia or Singapore?

Spend like 3-4 days in Bangkok. I stayed in the Old City and it's pretty 165+ just walking around, sightseeing, people watching, etc. There's obviously Thai cooking classes, wet markets, all the temple and other touristy attractions. Lumpini park is pretty cool, especially at 6PM when all the joggers stop to praise their king lol.

The new downtown is pretty cool too. MBK Center if you want to see a yuuuuge mall.

So I might have about 2 weeks to spend in southeast Asia. I definitely want to see Singapore because it is a place that has fascinated me from childhood. Figure I need at least 2-3 days there.

I might as well see Malaysia if I'm in Singapore, right? I think there's 3 days worth of shit in Malaysia I want to do.

I'm not left with much time after that. Kinda just want to skip Thailand and go straight to Siem Reap.

You only need like one full day and night to see Singapore. Use your time elsewhere. Malaysia is right there and easy to get to from Singapore. Indonesia has some legit spots (I did Yogyakarta and it was awesome). Angor Wat is awesome. I've only been to Phuket and Bangkok in Thailand, both were worth a visit (esp Bangkok). Hanoi was cool as fuck too.

i'd do bkk, rep and han maybe.

Don't listen to these morons. There's plenty of stuff to do in SIN over 2-3 days. There's a ton of places that have 180 food. Plenty of parks, attractions, etc.

Check out Gardens by the Bay, Treetop Walk, Fort Canning Park, Little India, China Town, etc.

Singapore, as a polity, has fascinated me from childhood. I will definitely spend at least 2 days there. I must see it.

I guess my itinerary now is 2 days in Singapore, 3 in KL, 3 in Siem Reap, and 4 in Bangkok. That works over a 2 week period. Y'all better be right about Thailand.

nah that includes day trips

when I say I am "in" a city that just means I am sleeping there

so like I am not gonna do 3 days of sightseeing in Kuala Lumpur. That will be one day in KL, one day trip to Malacca, one day trip to those caves with the statues.

i meant that some people say 4 days when they arrive on day 1 in the afternoon, and leave on day 4 in the morning and that's only 2 actual sightseeing days.

or some people could mean 4 actual sightseeing days.

This is a solid time allocation. Singapore is totally fine for several days if you have a prior personal interest, plus you can spend plenty of time just eating, there is some great and cheap food there. In KL, you mean the Batu caves — you can skip those if time gets tight, but Malacca is plenty interesting. More than enough to see in Bangkok once you take into account all the temples, the floating markets, day trips out like Ayuthaya, checking out the backpacker zoo around Khao San Rd, contemplating getting clothes made and wondering if you’re getting cheap silk or expensive plyester, just wandering around, etc etc

Plus: you can do a trip report!

Hit the beach, rent a motorcycle, eat, pray, love. Check out some temples, go to some islands, cut out and go to Angkor wat in Cambodia instead. Lots of cool shit in SE Asia it's just way more fun when you're getting your D wet every day and getting solid $5 massages.

No, its not worth seeing. Visiting Asia in general is SPS.

Asia is for travel IBS shrews to post pictures to Instagram to make their other IBS brunch shrew friends jealous.

Its generally not a pleasant place to visit. Most of it is dirty, loud, polluted, hot, and crowded.
