it's one of the few films that depicts the soviet invasion of manchuria, too.
the russian war and peace film from the late-60's has gigantic battle sequences at borodino and krasnoi and also a lengthy sequence of the sack of moscow. the war scenes are mostly in parts III and IV of the 4-part film. you can watch the latter half just for that alone. |

We were soldiers is also excelllent.
Paths of Glory is good, but I found it wanting in war action. |
