Kids will be raised with an "HYP or bust" mentality where I'll make them understand that either they are gonna get into HYP, or in the (likely) event that they do not make it, they should eschew lower ranked private schools and take a scholarship to a decent state school or in-state tuition to flagship. I ain't paying for WUSTL or Emory. |

I think the HYP and elite myth is cracking all over and the network will be shot soon for a bunch of reasons. I see it at least at alumni events. The genXers can't hook up the millennials because they still aren't at a level to make jobs. At some point everyone tried to get a job and not enough tried to start a business and it shows. This is dumb. It's not that the current classes are less entrepreneurial, its that admissions are more merit based.
Being able to network with really smart poor classmates is not nearly as valuable as being able to network with mediocre rich classmates. |
