A much more plausible reading of these events is that all of them genuinely believed that Trump must be up to something because it just broke their brains too badly to try to understand how much the country hates them and their political establishment. And it's not as if Page was the only shady-ass motherfucker involved in the Trump campaign. Manafort was basically low level Russian gangster. |

The memo is also careful to not say that the dossier's information is wrong or made up. Further, there is no requirement that one's political motivations be revealed in a search warrant application. As a matter of fact, most confidential informants have an axe to grind against the warrant's target and are often paid for their information.
In the best possible light for conservatives, one could argue that the bar for probable cause is not a high one. But nothing here shows impropriety. I've seen search warrants of people's homes obtained with less than that. If there are problems with the warrants, then the defendants in Mueller's investigation will have plenty of opportunity to challenge the evidence obtained from them. |

The informant was credible given his track record. Like I said, most informants have axes to grind and/or are motivated by nefarious/monetary reasons. That's not something that has to be noted in an application for a search warrant. It's also important to note what the Memo doesn't say about the dossier. It doesn't say that it's entirely false or made up. Basically, the Memo attacks the motivation of the informant, but that's not nearly sufficient to argue there was insufficient PC. And, the memo admits there was corroborating information (the Papadop info and potentially more).
Again, if there was no pc or if the dossier were false, Nunes would be have said so. |

None, really.

"Before trial" is very very very different than an application for a warrant. I've reviewed enough of these to know that they're 99.99% boilerplate and that they do not detail the characteristics, motivations, and sordid pasts of the informants. If that were the standard, these applications would turn into lengthy discovery proceedings where the pros would have to turn over mountains of documents to the court before it could make the application.
They can't lie. Can a material omission be a lie? Sure, but it would have to be an omission along the lines "we have evidence that the informant is lying". These applications are drafted and reviewed rapidly. There's no time for that level of detail, and CI's are always shit, which is why there needs to be corroborating info.
This one wouldn't even raise an eyebrow. Forget it. There's far more ridiculous and flimsier shit that I've seen submitted. You want a tragedy. Look at the low standard coming out of the district courts for something like cell tower dumps. |

A material omission from a judge is the same thing as lying. Put another way, it is highly deceitful. The judge presumably only found the evidence "credible" that was actually presented. Leaving out gigantic important facts, such as a dossier being compiled and funded by a political opponent, would color anyone's view of the evidence presented.
The question is: if the actual source and background of the dossier was revealed in full, would the judge have still granted the FISA warrant? No one will ever know the answer of that question, because the FBI/DOJ decided to intentionally keep that information from the judge. So it calls into question the entire process, which is why you don't fucking omit important information in the first place.
