But the notion that immigration has caused Americans to lose their sense of community seems a bit far fetched. There are government actions that are much more applicable than immigration. The UMC (and the Upper Class) gets the best of diversity and globalism. They make more, they travel, they get cheaper labor, they live in overwhelmingly white affluent communities where the only minorities are high achieving minorities who don't bring a lot of the negative externalities associated with minorities. They can eschew religion and can recreationally use substances, but it's not a killer for them because the UMC and Upper Class tends to have traits that keep them from spiraling downward (intelligence, delayed gratification, work ethic, etc.).

yes, but also i think that affluent people today feel more constrained by time than by money, and having more kids, especially little kids, is a huge time suck. affluent people are already working a lot, so time taken up by kids (especially little kids) is expensive at the margin, and that's doubly true when you consider that intelligent, affluent people have enough money that they have tons of options for their leisure time.

i have no evidence to back this up, but i suspect if kids popped out of vaginas at like 8 years old, intelligent/affluent people would have more kids.
