honestly every time i meet a boomer who can touch type, i'm genuinely impressed
any boomer who can operate a computer at a basic level is easily top 1% in their demographic for understanding technology

I have two boomer programmers that work under me. They work on an ancient mainframe we are in the process of phasing out. Without generalizing, they are no where near the level of the millenial's. It's not the case of a different toolset either. I had a junior developer write a restful service client in RPG (their language) because they couldn't comprehend JSON / REST. He never touched the language before and wrote a very well designed client. Their code constantly violates all SOLID principles.
It's not just them either. Same company I worked under a software engineering manager who was supposedly a genius developer. He is a smart/clever/witty guy but his software engineering prowess was way overstated. He constantly had these insane architectural ideas that involved enterprise message buses / services / etc that completely misused these integration's. He architected an enterprise message bus that was suppose to sit between our systems and our fax/sms/smtp servers as well as system to system communication. Except our archaic mainframe didnt support AMQP (the protocol the queues are based on). So he had them write to a mysql table, then wrote a program that polled that table for new entries, then placed messages on a queue which then is consumed and calls a web service - which is so much worse than simply calling the service without all the bullshit in between.
The issue with boomers is that they are still stuck in the "its just logic" mindset. They always state that they don't know X (insert new platform/language/framework/pattern) but in the end it's all just 0's and 1's which they know "very well". Except this not really true anymore. Programming has become so abstracted that it rarely requires clever little logic hacks / low level computer sciency concepts / etc. Programming now is much more like traditional engineering/architecting where you have these various components / sets of components and you need to piece them together using best practices (SOLID/GRASP/DRY/SoC/etc). It's all about taking a complex business problem, frame it in a system's "lens", abstracting all the moving parts, piecing them together with the aforementioned principles, etc. Equally as important is the toolset around your project (build automation, containerization, deployment automation, regression / systems / unit / security testing, etc), your PMO and SDLC, the maturity of your release cycles, etc.

really elaborate well executed flame to convince XO lolyers that programming == engineering
As a real EE engineer I have to say LOL NO
OMG boomers dont know how to set up the fax API to work with the mainframe subsystems. GTFO here with this code monkey bullshit
sorry about your tiny pink CS degree
