Plan is to hit the Honda dealership right when it opens at noon. Then go to the Subaru dealership.

Not gonna buy today, because I still need to line up financing and test drive the Mazda CX-5, which I won't have time to do today.

Wife has been leaning towards the CR-V, but this morning we watched videos of both cars on YouTube and she was impressed that the Outback came with more standard features on the base model.

Going CPO makes very little sense unless you drive a fuckton and plan to drive the car into the dirt in like 5 years. There is very little depreciation for the top sellers in this segment. For a 2 year used model you are looking at like $7k off sticker which is actually less than 2 years of lease payments. The top sellers in this segment depreciate at below the lease rate which is insane.

The worst math for buying used is with the Civic. If you do the math the Civic is depreciating at 4% per year in year 1 and 2 which makes buying one used a retarded decision.

The biggest selling point for the CX-5 is its looks. It looks like an Infiniti for $20k less money. The interiors are class leading. Also, it has double pane glass 2x as thick as normal cars for sound insulation. That's a feature you normally only find on Mercedes S class, Rolls Royces, Bentleys and the like. Mazda got tired of people bitching about road noise on Mazdas so they are by far the quietest cars in the segment now. They went ape with the sound deadening materials. Only the windshield is normal glass. The only drawback is the tiny 185hp engines and 8.4 second 0-60. Honda has them beat by a full second. If it wasnt for that single fact there would be no question about what car to get in this segment.

Subaru owners are hippie retards who dont know cars. They are 180 only if you really need the AWD capability in a compact sedan as most manufacturers until recently were not selling AWD compacts. Mazda still doesnt. Once you get over that feature you realize they have relatively low red lines and arent very torquey and generally are nothing remotely special but sell at a premium because the hippies are idiots.

AWD SUVs abound. The entire thing that made Subaru unique was the AWD compact sedan. That's what drew in the suckers who later upgraded to the nothing special SUV. They are not terrible cars or anything. Very few cars today are legit terrible. But you pay a roughly $2-3k premium for the Subaru badging over a comparably speced out Honda and the Honda is cheaper to maintain too.

Subaru Outback 2.5i MSRP is almost exactly the same as MSRP on the Honda CR-V LX with optional AWD. And according to TrueCar, in my area the average Outback owner paid LESS because they got a steeper discount from the dealer.

Meaningless poast without full specs. Does the Subaru come with the same tech package? Same size tires? Sunroof? Its the tech package shit that makes them more expensive usually.

don't really care about most of the stuff you mentioned, but my sense from YouTube this morning is that more stuff comes standard on the base Subaru than on the base CR-V. including 4WD, the big one that we actually care about.

I'll find out more about the trim today on the test drives. But we are upgrading from a 2009 Camry, so the trim on ANY 2018 base car is gonna blow us away.

It is not “fun to drive” or “peppy” by any means but the reason people loved them is that they drive like sedans with the comfort of being higher off the ground and in a bigger frame/more room. The “sensible shoe” put down is fair but I’m a father of two young kids in my late 30s, so I thoroughly enjoy the feeling of a sensible shoe. This Russian nigger has clearly never driven an Outback and is just regurgitating shit he read on jalopnik or the like.

mazdas look terrible (though i guess you may be one of the weirdos who think mazdas look good). and they are built like shit and have cheap interiors. i took a test drive in the highly acclaimed mazda 3 and realized it was built like shit with terrible road noise and cheap tacky interiors.

luxury cars maybe overpriced but they offer refinement, build quality and much better handling. but if you are going to stick to non-luxury brands then go with Honda or Subaru for your compact SUV

also wtf is USNWR ranking? hope you are trolling XO and not serious
