he needed internet to learn about uber in the first place, do research on it, paost on forums including xo to decide to drive/continue to drive, etc. it's absolutely necessary for his business. you cant buy "half an internet service" so you deduct the whole thing
any meal he had with anyone where he "discussed" uber or his business is deductible (50% cap). granted i think pman eats alone so may not be helpful
he probably has a home office, even if just a small space in his apartment, where he did the work to research whether he should drive/continue to drive for uber/for competitors, planned routes, researched maps and driving routes. if this place was dedicated to his work, that % of his rent is deductible. since he has a home office, any driving he did between his home office and other place of biz is deductible
he doesnt have to have a profit on his biz, meaning you can deduct more expenses than you bring in revenue. IRS will give you 3 years before cracking down on this

I've gotten a lot of tips actually, its been 180. I think I'm better at conversation than most of the prole drivers. I usually always start with a "hey how's your day going?" and based on their response, I will either just drive in silence or start a real conversation with them.
