I saw a lot of attractive chicks, lots of wiggers, and lots of traffic. Pretty cool that skiing is 60-90min away depending on where you live

Now that you mention it, there is kind of a high concentration of wiggers in Denver. I guess it makes sense that wiggers are sort of free to roam and thrive in places like Denver, as their natural predators (actual hard ass black dudes) are scarce.

never lived there but have been for work quite a few times

The city itself is shit. It's spread out and you really need a car to do anything. There are lots of aggressive bums waiting around for busses.

There are more weed shops than starbucks and mcdonald's combined. This is pretty chill, but means that everyone in the service industry is baked 24/7. Food is pretty good though and there is a food truck scene if you are into that.

Given the influx of young stoners, there are few "adults" in the city. I think the oldest person I encountered at my hotel was in her early 30s. Everyone else was early to mid 20s.

The other side effect of so many millennials is that service is shitty. People just want to be done with you so they can go to yoga class or head to the hills to ski. There are a fair amount of the subaru driving trustifarians from places like Scarsdale, etc. (Colorado College grads, namaste lifestyle, etc.)

The airport is far as fuck from the city and there is awful traffic going there.

Housing is being propped up by the cannibusiness. People who make big cash money can't bring it out of state or put it in banks that send money out of state so they are buying real estate cash. There are tons of developments going up with town houses selling for like $700k.

Not really true about being "spread out" - Denver actually has lots of nice walkable, pre-war neighborhoods

Yes and if you try to walk between them you will be accosted by bums, freeze to death, or get hit by a car that is not expecting pedestrians. (Or, if you are from the low country, be out of breath as fuck.) So yes, you can walk around a few blocks around LoDo, but it's hardly a walking city, but you can Uber between the walkable areas for cheap.

The city feels like Las Vegas in the sense that everything looks close on a map, but once you start walking you realize it's quite far.

You can easily walk around Capitol Hill, uptown, Baker, Congress park, uptown, any of the neighborhoods of Northwest Denver. High of 75 in Denver today, and the city regularly sweeps homeless camps out. It sounds like your experience is in the area near the homeless services by LoDo, and coming into the city from the airport.

he's right that the airport is ridiculously far away and would be a big negative if you had to regularly travel for work.

Also he's definitely right about service being shitty in Colorado.

The most hilarious part is him claiming you'll freeze to death in Denver. Denver's weather literally pwns 99% of the country

My experience is in the Capitol Hill area. I don't deny there are a few walkable areas, and there are sidewalks pretty much everywhere, which is nice, but the distance you have to travel from one place to another makes it a not very walkable city. It is similar to Nashville, Minneapolis, or Atlanta, where there are definitely neighborhoods and strips of businesses where you can drive, park your car, and walk around, but it does not have the walkability of an east coast city, chicago, or SF.

being the first to have legal weed was not good for the city. lots of small crime. lots of people hanging around.

but if you like nature and spend your time out of the city it's credited.
