As in, do I get paid for sick days at the end of the year if I don't use them? Only if I quit. Otherwise they roll over for me.

My wife gets paid at the end of the year for sick days she didn't use.

As long as you don’t have to use vacation days for a sick day, then that works great. The whole “sick day” thing is an accounting thing for HR so they don’t credit it against your vacation days.

5 sick days, 5 personal days.

None of those rollover so every year, people take all those days before digging into vacation days which accrue.

I get 20 vacation days. The personal days don’t rollover so you have to use them and the firm saves some money by distinguishing between that and vacation days that do rollover and accrue.

Do you input your vacation or personal days into a system?

I'm supposed to, but have never done it. To people outside my particular legal dept, I look like a champ. 0 vacation or sick days taken since I started.

I'm in a Catch-22 scenario where the fact I'm going into work proves I'm mentally ill, etc.

The problem with the ability to work from home is that it’s pretty hard to take/justify a sick day.

That said, I don’t think I have a stated number of sick days like I do vacation days.
