KJV is inaccurate, archaic, and used only by fundamentalists. NIV was the generic standard for 30 years but has fallen out of favor. NLT is a paraphrase, not a translation. |

As for what you need to do this, not all that much. You should have a decent, internalized grasp of the basic grammar. The oral nature of the course will help with that, as you'll see from the reviews. You can pick up vocabulary afterwards as you read the Bible.
But it's better not to read it and save your energy for something useful. I knew the bible definitively to be a crock of shit after reading it in Greek. |
