How do you ever get past this? You're tired 16 hours a day. You don't want to wake up and do anything. Everything feels like you have a weight on your back. It's all so much harder.

Is it emotional pain or anhedonia with avolition? Seasonal? Current rx and treatment plan? Job, work, exercise situation?

It's very likely the highly reported side effect of a medication that treats a neurological condition. Bupropion currently but recently given SRNI Venlafaxine. Current hope is that when I start it, I feel better. Waiting to start because you need a few days where you're kind of fucked up. Not exercising enough but circular: lack of energy/motivation --> no exercise, and no exercise --> lowers energy.

Just curious if depressedmos out there have experienced this. It's not the suicidal depression. I'm honestly not like that. It's more like everything is so much harder than it needs to be.

Yes, it's atypical depression, look up leaden paralysis, very common. Sorry to hear you are experiencing it, that sucks. Try to get your hands on some nuvigil to get you through while you wait for the SNRI and wellbutrin to work.

YW. Hope this helps.

There are also some arcane treatments I know about that may work, but they're third or fourth line.

The forced walk advice below is good, too. Don't be surprised if you move like an 80 y/o, just one foot at a time.

I should probably stop complaining until I try the Venlafaxine--I literally have the meds. Just waiting for the right time to start. My neurologist believed it was the right combo for the depression side effect. I would drop the neurologic medicine causing this in the first place but it actually works on my physical problem which is also pretty bad for my QOL.

I can suck everything up for periods at a time, it just gets hard, but maybe more gym time would be a good thing for me.

The combo is pretty good - CA. rocket fuel. SSRIs would do jack shit. You can find a site that will send you nuvigil without a lot of effort, but won't be there for a few weeks.

I'd start asap. There's a kindling effect with these states, such that you want to get out of it quickly.

Usually cr but the baby stuff may work given it's a side effect of lyrica or whatever & he just needs to buy time.

Another option is speed.

But whatever you do, don't combine an mao inhibitor with any of these other drugs!

there's another element here of being not near most of my friends which def compounds everything, I agree

part of me doesn't even want to, it's just so much work, which might be this "leaden paralysis" shit

Just do a job that actually engages your brain and you will quit being depressed fairly quickly.

Being depressed is *mostly* for people who have too much time on their hands.
