I know, I know, stormtroopers aren't even in that scene, let me explain: Stormtrooper armor has never successfully prevented anybody from being taken out of the fight with one hit. Every blaster hit makes them go out like a light. Meanwhile, general dude is wearing a coat and gets hit with a blaster and... nothing, he has the wind knocked out of him but he gets right back up.
There's ways to rationalize it (maybe it's a weak civilian level blaster! maybe the general's coat is tougher than it looks!) but it just makes the universe seem that much more absurd and not in a good way. |
