Caroline Trevor Salas and John Zeller Gage Jr. were married Saturday at St. John’s of Lattingtown Episcopal Church in Locust Valley, N.Y., by the Rev. Simon Foster, the church rector.

Mrs. Gage, 28, is a reporter for Bloomberg News in New York, where she covers the Federal Reserve. She graduated cum laude from Harvard.

She is a daughter of Caroline Wilmerding Rupp of Muttontown, N.Y., and Peter Eckart Salas of Fernandina Beach, Fla. The bride’s father is the president and a portfolio manager of the Dolphin Asset Management Corporation, an investment management firm in New York; he works in Fernandina and New York.

The bride is a descendant of William Floyd, a signer of the Declaration of Independence, and Thomas Willett, the first mayor of New York.

Mr. Gage, 30, is a director of strategic consulting at Frank N. Magid Associates, a market research and consulting firm in New York; he develops strategy for corporations and investment firms. He graduated from Hobart College in Geneva, N.Y.

He is the son of Karen Springhorn Gage and John Zeller Gage of Palm Beach, Fla. The bridegroom’s father retired as a partner in Pershing & Company, a New York brokerage firm, and was until 2003 a member of the New York Stock Exchange.

The bridegroom is a descendant of Robert Morris, a Pennsylvania senator and a signer of the Declaration of Independence, and General Thomas Gage, the royal governor of Massachusetts in 1774 and commander-in-chief of the British forces in North America at the outset of the American Revolution.

Caroline Wilmerding Trevor and Peter Eckert Salas, who are with the Morgan Guaranty Trust Company, were married yesterday in St. John's of Lattingtown Episcopal Church in Locust Valley, L.I. The rector, the Rev. Charles G. Newbery, performed the ceremony.

The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bronson Trevor of New York, Mill Neck, L.I., and Paul Smiths, N.Y. Her father is chairman of the Texinia Corporation, an Oklahoma City oil concern, and of Advanced Drilling Systems Inc. of Dallas.

Mr. Salas is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Mr. and Mrs. Saturnino L. Salas of Haddam, Conn. His father, a mathematician and writer, is director of Gevaert Photo-Produkten in Antwerp, Belgium, which was founded by his great-grandfather, Lieven Gevaert.

The bride attended the Chapin School and graduated from the Foxcroft School and Wellesley College. As a debutante she was a member of the Junior Assemblies. She is descended from William Floyd, a signer of the Declaration of Independence; the Rev. Thomas Hooker, a founder of Hartford, and Thomas Willett, first Mayor of New York.

Mr. Salas is an alumnus of the Hotchkiss School and Harvard College. He is a grandson of the late E. Albert Eckart, who was a former president and chairman of Sapolin Paints Inc., and a greatgreat‐grandson of Saturnino Salas, who was Minister of the Interior of Argentina.

A mathematician and writer, he graduated from Hotchkiss. At Princeton, he joined Ivy Club, and roomed with Bob Jiranek, Bill Brokaw, and Mike Mooney.

He married Judith Brumley Eckart and left Princeton in December 1950 to serve four years in the Air Force. He earned a Ph.D. in math from Yale in 1959, and taught math at Yale, Wesleyan, and the University of Connecticut until retiring from academia to write textbooks. His text, Calculus: One and Several Variables, written with Einar Hille, went into 10 editions.
