a) 1 acre of land and 5000 sq. ft. house.

or

b) 2 acres of land and 3000 sq. ft. house.

more land; i like having a big garden. with 2 acres (as opposed to one) you'd have room for a full-sized squash/pumpkin patch along with room for your own grapevines and other space-intensive berry bushes and vines in general. you can eat up a bush full of blueberries easily, but if you have land, you can have lots of bushes. also chickens, bunnies, etc.
