the most striking part of high and low to me was the scene where the cops told the room full of reporters a secret piece of the investigation, asked them to be quiet about it and not to publish it yet, and they did so. it's just a totally different social model of cohesion and shared values.

that would be if you watched it today, although it was also the early 60's

it was very good though and of course very different from his samurai movies, Mifune is 180
