i think adults are compelled to rationalize a lot of our failures and uncontrollable circumstances simply as a method of self-preservation. didn't get that cool job? oh well not everyone can be a doctor! wife sleeps around? well, that just how women are these days! etc. etc. Many of us are forced into mediocrity or truly horrible circumstances relative to where we could have been, and to admit as much would be world-destroying. so we are clearly biased. perhaps these kids are the only ones thinking logically.
