I don't follow foreign relations very closely but I'm rooting for him to lord over some opportunistic deal with North Korea just to extend his good will with the public so the midterms and Democratic primary will feel like they have increased stakes. The momentum wouldn't insulate him all the way through 2020 but it would let him continue to do his thing.
Right now he's a few months of economic downturn away from being a full burnout. His enemies in the GOP establishment will switch out the lights if he shows weakness in the economy. If the recession shows signs of rousing in the next year he's a goner and we'll have some horrific 2020 contest between Cory Booker and a dickless faux Reaganite whose main job is to sell the national GOP constituency on political equivalent of a rebuilding phase. |
