This is an African American reference to a prison farm were blacks were kept down on the farm in the Jim Crow South. How can you not like this deeply rich ensemble?
Edit: interesting side note, after some internet research, the Sugar Land, Texas prison plantation referenced in this song has been replaced with a master planned suburb officially named “Telfair” but I officially referred to as “Patelfair” because of all the Indians that live there. It’s a different century, a different kind of brown, but she’s still a real Browntown.
