8th into 9th: continued playing in punk bands. Smoked a lot of weed. Went to the warped tour in asbury park and saw rancid, bad religion, suicide machines, nofx etc. This cute punk girl agreed to be my girlfriend. we fooled around in the backseat of my brothers car in the krauszers parking lot. Went on a weeklong trip with my best friend's family to myrtle beach. Bought fireworks and had a blast.
9th into 10th: Worked at Mcdonalds. Smoked weed every day. Hung out at taco bell where my friend worked and his older siblings were the managers. Got all the free food i wanted. Group of friends hung out almost every night at the taco bell friends house. his parents didnt give a fuck what we did and we just had massive sleepovers almost every night. Started playing in this other punk band.
I cant do this anymore it's too depressing. |

I dunno man. I think there was a big cultural shift in my hometown which i drove through just yesterday. It used to be a mix of middle and working class whites plus some hill billies and some hispanics. Very few blacks, asians or indians and pretty much no jews. I've heard there's been an influx of jews, indians and asians. I think the striverism has made it so kids lives are more regimented and they dont have the idle time to get themselves into trouble or do dumb shit at a young age. |

Most of my friends and I didn't have jobs and spent almost all day, every day (and lots of nights) at his house. We drank and smoked and did drugs and just partied in that house all summer long.
His parents had an electric air pump. We blew up hundreds of balloons and created a "balloon room" in a guest bedroom (blocked the lower half of the doorway with a mattress so they wouldn't come out when you opened the door. Hooked up with my then-girlfriend in the balloon room one afternoon.
Not a god damn care in the world. It was truly 180. Now I spend my summers carefully reviewing legal documents.

I got off to a really good start at the internship, which was fulfilling. It was the first time in my life that I was making more than minwage type work.
The second job was the fun part. I'd get scheduled for a 5 hour shift, but we would get all the work done by the time I was just 2-3 hours into the shift. We all got to be pretty good friends and would always be doing *something* hanging out after work. Sometimes it was just beers in the parking lot. Other times it was chill midweek house parties & campfires. One time a bunch of us from the store went to a strip club and two of our teenage cashiers went up on stage & got naked.
I had recently turned 21, so some nights I'd end up in a bar for a bit with old high school buddies.
The second job was crucial too, because I was living with my parents and they were overly strict with me. That second job gave me cover to be out of the house well past when they went to bed. |

I was basically unsupervised and had enough spending money to go anywhere and do whatever I wanted day to day. Summer after senior year was dope as hell but the impending separation of college made the dynamics a little weird. Like there were tons of fun days fucking around, and fun upsides like a girl you didn’t expect to be into you just presents her holds because we’re all leaving and she can go for it without worrying about the consequences. But by late July/early August everyone was pulling apart to deal with their own separation anxiety and parents would schedule big family trips and the like. Shared a beach house with my six closest hs bros for senior week and we still do reunions every once in awhile at the same beach town because it was so epic. Broke up with my gf post-prom, pre-senior week and smashed a lot of teen puss that I had been pining for during senior year that summer. Also learned how to binge drink without killing myself, which would come in handy for pledging. Anytime I hear a track off of Blue, Brushfire Fairy Tales, Morning View or the Lillywhite Sessions I trip back to that summer and day dream.
2nd place is the summer before law school where I quit my job in April and spent the next 4 months living at our beach house and couchsurfing down the coast to visit friends. Had met my wife by that point so not as much debauchery, but knew I was what I was signing up for as far as my future and lived as free as possible til orientation.
I got most of my wild drinking and sex with randoms out of my system in HS/college/pre law school and found a girl I knew I wanted to wife, so by that point I was ready to settle down. Always feel bad for those in late 20s/early 30s "living it up" who are clearly compensating for a misspent youth. |

all we did that entire summer was go to shows, listen to hardcore, and skate. pretty much all of us were straight edge so I remember the entire summer. was so 180. 1994-1996 were almost as good, but I have to give it to 1993 for being the first. |

Was a pretty cool feeling finally being not-fat and on the way to the IVY LEAGUE. Then engineering crushed my spirits. |
