looks like there are ~100 seats in the state dining room, but hard to tell.

mass produced food is never that good. would you expect the WH state dinners to be any better than a 100-person formal event at the waldorf? probably not.

Yes, because unlike the (((hosts))) of the events you attend at the Waldorf, they're not trying to save money by pinching every goddamn penny. There's nothing intrinsic about 100 people that makes it harder to serve good food, the shit food at most events is because of cost-cutting and designing the menu around things that can sit for an hour before being eaten. The White House doesn't face these constraints.

trump serving lasagna for state dinner w italian potus. how 180 would that be?

sure, early courses can be mass-prepared well. the problem is traditional hot "mains" that are meat or fish based arent conducive to mass production.

What, precisely, do you think prevents an arbitrarily large number of protein mains from being prepared to a high quality at the same time?

Like let's just say for the sake of argument that 4 chefs in a brigade system can put out 10 of a main at the same time and have them all be perfect, but this can't be scaled up. Add in what's essentially a second kitchen with 4 more chefs of equivalent skill and they can do 10 as well. Since space and costs aren't really constraints, you can replicate this as many times as you like. What *precisely* do you think prevents this?

Because the shitty food at (((legal))) events isn't anything intrinsic about food, it's about cost savings.

I’ve had two dinners in foreign embassies of the US and they were legit. (Not state dinners but ambassador hosted events with 100-150 people.) Also had a dinner at James Beard House with 80 people. Not impossible to do mass service of high end food if, as noted above, you are not trying to pinch pennies.

Winery owner Kathryn Hall, wife of billionaire, copped Austrian ambassador for Bill Clinton by donating tons of $$$$. I'm sure the price has gone up but if you cop several million just donate it all to the POTUS and tell zhir that's what you want
