I have no contact of a personal nature with people. If my friends text, I always ask how work is.

I forget whether people are married or have kids, but I will remember every car they have driven and whether they have a pet and inquire after the cars and the pets and not the family.

I am terrible remembering people’s names, so I will always repeat their name when I meet them to mitigate it. Even still, I will remember a conversation in great detail a decade plus later and, if I see that person, I will pick up the conversation as though it was yesterday. Even if I can’t remmeber their name.

I make lists on xo when I answer things.

Most of this is more OCD than autist, but whenever I fix something it is insanely perfect. Down to ordering or finding the bolts and screws where the markings on the head match the originals.

For restaurants, I utilize a meta-search method that aggregates data from yelp, local newspapers, eater, facebook, google, michelin (if applicable), zagat and restaurant critics. I come up with a list of like 30 acceptable restaurants, then I narrow that down based on what actually sounds intriguing to me on their menus. I then sort that into lunch and dinner categories based on price range and hours of operation. Then I take the best few from each for each day I plan on being in my main destination and record the hours of operation.

For sites/local destinations, I do something similar only with tripadvisor, google rating and general research (combination of whatever travel guides I already have on the area, non-shrewy blogs, rick steves if applicable, etc.). Then I narrow down the list, estimate the time required to experience remaining said sites/local destinations and record the hours of operation for each.

Once I have all this data, plug all the points into google maps to see the minimum distance path required to hit the places, or some sub-series of them. I then use all this information to make the most time-efficient trip possible, to the best restaurants/destinations I can predict. At some points it can actually be like doing an LSAT game, combined with geometry. Kooky.

The whole process takes probably about 8 hours for 4 day weekend trips or 12 hours for week-long trips. It is almost certainly overkill for whatever marginal benefit I gain from it. Yet I would go nuts if I didn't do this.
