If you work in an office tower, you might get fire drills once a year or so.

My favorite moments in elementary school were when the teacher would run out of stuff to teach and we'd just take a half hour break on the playground

I remember in middle school we’d always joke amongst ourselves that we would never follow the drill procedure in an irl fire, everyone would be running pushing etc, would joke about tripping the slow friend etc. good times

my biglaw firm had these, including one associate who was assigned to carry a big flag to mark the firm rally point (not flame)

The fire warden.

We always made the receptionist do it, but it was a high visibility vest, not a flag.

Tornado drills were more intense

Between tornado and fire drills, you ended up feeling indoctrinated with this fear that it was really likely that a disaster would in fact end up pwning you at some point

Wisconsin

One time a tornado was supposedly close and they herded as many of us as possible into the boiler room for hours

I don't think there was any tornado damage from that storm. It was a bit of mindfuck... we were in this dingy industrial room for a long-ass time, convinced that all hell was breaking loose outside. Then when they finally let us out of the boiler room, it was bright and sunny outside

Anybody else get told that fire alarms sprayed ink on whoever pulls them in order to deter false alarms?
