How would Hitchens have reacted to Trump generally and the Russia stuff?

since his whole shtick was provocative contrarianism it's tempting to say that he would have followed his Iraq-war era creep rightwards by going full alt-right, but i think he'd have been repulsed by them and by trump on aesthetic grounds
possible he would have swung back to his uber-leftist roots but unlikely since there isn't really room in today's left for him to be the center of attention
most likely he'd just have faded into general irrelevance as the only NY OpEd columnist capable of generating readable prose; no one really reads magazine writers anymore and his cable tv niche is mostly dead too
i am 100% sure he would have actively scorned the russia investigation stuff no matter which side he ended up on ideologically. i am also sure he would have nothing but venomous contempt for every current public intellectual from coates to peterson
