Matched his DNA with a distant relative on some genealogical nonprofit site. They then caught a Seattle murderer shortly after with the same method. Pretty neat.

The takeaway is that they don’t even need your dna to get genetic information about you.
It’s kinda fucked up if you think about it. Like, an insurance company could look at your relatives dna assuming your relatives are dumb enough to have their dna catalogued (which they probably are) when deciding to insure you.
