That being said, "learning to swim" is mostly about becoming comfortable in the water and overcoming anxiety. The rest is just coordination and muscle memory. |

if you are relatively healthy and do not have a fear of water--
you can learn 4 basic strokes, survival floating in 5 1-hour lessons. even less. but they need to be spread out. 1 5-hour lesson won't cut it.
and you will need to practice a bit on your own once you learn.
I've never snorkeled, so I can't say. |
