But if you are looking for greater convenience, I suppose it is possible that smart locks are an improvement in this regard. I don't know if they live up to this potential.
If you want increased security, the number one thing you can do is install a good quality door reinforcement kit. Properly installed, such kit will increase the time needed to break through a door significantly. |

That will not make your door impenetrable by any stretch of the imagination, but it will increase the number of kicks or shoulder slams necessary to get through from one to 4 or more. That is a huge improvement and could easily tilt the situation to your favor.
