I want to see numbers for top decile (or really all deciles/quintiles) graphed since 2000. I would guess it shows a shift of the top 10-2% toward public flagships because of how raped UMC parents get by FAFSA process. Seems like top 1% has potential to be misleading because of the high rate of people who either had good enough financial planning to save several hundred thousand per kid in college accounts to prepare for the expense of private/OOS or make enough that they can just pay it out of annual earnings. I bet top 10-2% looks way more UMC and coastal with a huge chunk of CA kids going to UCs.
