LOL at this nigger website. They use a 15-minute rule for auctions, where if there is a new bid in the last 15 minutes, the auction is extended for an additional 15 minutes following the bid.

With 15 seconds left, some fucker bid more than the revealed bid but less than my maximum bid. That reset the auction clock. Fucking bull shit. I understand the rationale for extending the auction if someone submits a new high bid, but letting less than high bids extend the auction is just stupid.

Several back and forth bids extending this shit out.

Just submitted my bid equal to my final and best offer. Due to these SPS rules, the other bidder could extend this auction for several more hours if he were so inclined by incrementally bidding up to my total bid amount.

Fuck!

I picked up a 686 this weekend and will be taking it to the range. The hair trigger seems so light that I am a little concerned - compared to the ones I rented at the range.

The MR73 has a storied past. It is universally acknowledged to be the strongest service revolver ever made while also providing a match grade trigger and exceptional accuracy. In addition to its technical aspects, it is the last service revolver that was issued and used by police and military forces beyond niche applications.

The most notable unit to use the MR73 is the French GIGN. I believe it is still used by many members of the GIGN, though its prevalence is slowly diminishing. It is also still used by other units French police units, such as Paris' equivalent of SWAT teams, as demonstrated by the picture I posted above, which is from the raid on the kosher supermarket during the Paris terrorist attacks.

If you want a technical explanation of the MR73, there are better sources than me to provide that explanation.

"Match grade" trigger, barrel & etc. just refers to parts that are designed with achieving an exceptionally high degree of accuracy. The trigger on the MR73 involved significant amounts of hand machining, somewhat akin to the Colt Python.

It is also possible to easily adjust both the DA and SA trigger using two screws, which I understand is unique to the MR73.

It's adjustable, so obviously it varies. Several comments in various forums claim it has the lightest SA pull of any factory revolver. For example, comment 11 in this thread:

mine feels like the SA pull is under 2 pounds but maybe I just need to get used to it. I guess that's a good thing? if you are careful.

Congrats on the purchase.

It's true claim to fame is its insane service life for a magnum revolver:

According to a test published in Cibles № 342, the rectangle of dispersion on a target shot at with the MR73 did not change after the test firing of 20,000 full power .357 Magnum cartridges. The writer concluded that it would take at least 300,000 rounds for the bore to begin to wear. The Manurhin factory museum exhibits an MR73 used by GIGN, with a round count of 96,000 full power .357 Magnums, a number unattainable by any S&W revolver.

I have in the past, but sold them.

I originally set out to purchase a Python, but I have a soft spot in my heart for anything that was manufactured with the pursuit of maximum utility in mind, which is precisely what this revolver represents.

A refined S&W is precisely what it is.

I'm usually not one to get carried away with being concerned about what "operators" use, but the GIGN is a seriously 180 tactical unit, with quite possibly the best motto in the history of mankind, until they inexplicably changed it 2014.

As soon as it arrives. It will be a couple a weeks.

The seller doesn't accept credit cards and insists on waiting until checks clear before shipping, which is entirely reasonable given that the seller has a very high rating.

Definitely had to bid up. I probably overpaid anywhere from $200 to $400 according to an autistic approach to value. However, the particular version of this gun I have been after (4in barrel with battle sights, not adjustable sights) in this condition comes up for sale in the US 2 or 3 times a year. I was tired of waiting and ready to buy.

Plus I have a real nead for a gun similar to this revolver. I need a home defense gun for my wife, and this revolver loaded with .38 special is perfect for that application.
