Special effects werent great then so they must be really bad now

Season one isnt great (main actor wasnt a good fit and had to be replaced with the tron guy in season 2) - so it may be hard to stick with it if you didnt know that

Also what was great about the show was the story arc concet. Up until then sci fi was a lot of TNG type shows with 40 minute stories that had no connection to each other. B5 was exceptional at the time. These days though every sci fi show is like that, even star trek. So it may not age well because it wont seem as unique as it should

That being said it is a great show and you should watch it

Very classy of JMS--particularly since he was perpetually asked by fans for the past two decades about what was up with the season 2 captain switch.

I don't think it is merely the fact that it had an overarching plot. It is more that the plot was developed prior to the show and was actually good. Of course, after the plot ran its course (at the end of season 4) everything else was mediocre.

i watched the entire series a few years ago along with all the films and the spinoff series "crusade." i used this timeline guide to keep things straight:

https://i.imgur.com/Ob1G1u8.jpg

it was enjoyable. it has an actual running story arc and not just episodes-of-the-week (though it has those, too).

Just finished selected episodes of Season 1. I'm following this guide:

https://www.geek.com/geek-cetera/babylon-5-condensed-how-to-watch-sci-fis-most-intimidating-masterpiece-1613627/

I've watched both the essential and recommended episodes.

Thoughts so far ... incredibly cheesy graphics ... some ham-fisted acting ... but interested enough in the plot and universe building to continue on.

"Will you follow me to fire, into storm, into darkness, into death? And the nine said: yes. Then do this in testimony to the one who will follow, will bring death couched in the promise of new life, and renewal disguised as defeat... From birth, through death and renewal, you must put aside old things, old fears, old lives. This is your death, the death of flesh, the death of pain, the death of yesterday. Taste of it and be not afraid, for I am with you to the end of time... Taste of it... And so it begins."

With all the shitty movies and TV shows that have been remade its criminal that B5 hasn't. Of course, the SJWs will ruin it and make Sheridan a faggot or something.

DAMMMN ... this is getting good. Babylon 5 literally NOWAG's close contemporary ST TNG. Why in the FUCK haven't I watched this before?

My local Fox station would run B5 @ 9pm and DS9 @ 10 on Sundays.

bros you are correct that this series is 180

just got to s3e10. what a fucking 180 episode. loving this series.

really good storylines.

some of the eps are misses and some of the characters are a bit much at times, but they round them out pretty well as it goes on.
