I really like watching hockey, but they're such a mess. Buffalo News also axed half of their sportswriters a few weeks ago.
Bills connect me to home, brother, dad, uncles, and a handful of old friends I keep in touch with. I keep saying that I won't watch, but inevitably I pay the $200 for Sunday Ticket (pre-kid I dragged my wife to a bar at 10 a.m. to watch). |

Used to be a Union dem/lib, but at a certain point I noticed the Democratic party seemed completely uninterested in helping actual average Americans and was more concerned with gay rights, supporting illegals and shaming white males. I still hate racist conservatives (like many of the deranged poasters here on XO), though. It feels like there is no place anymore for a normal person who'd like to see unity and consensus building, who loves their country but doesn't treat it like a religion, who can acknowledge shades of grey, etc.
I will always follow the Bills though. Just too many fond childhood memories to completely divorce myself from my fandom. I'm just more mature about it now. My weekends used to be ruined when they lost. Now I don't get too worked up if they lose and just enjoy it for the distraction that it is. And I'll skip the occasional game to do stuff with the kids or go golf or whatever. |
