For most of the decade+ I've wasted posting on this bort under this username I've been one of the most widely divisive poasters here (and that's putting a charitable spin on it). The idea that I "crave" acceptance on XO is hilarious; if there's one common thread that can be fairly said to run throughout my poasting, it's that I have never shied away from saying what I think even if it's "controversial."

In fact, since you brought up Trump, let's consider that--I was rabidly anti-Trump (although let me be very clear: *never* pro-Hillary) for months leading up to the election, creating numerous threads about it at a time when that was a massively unpopular position to take on XO. In fact I'm pretty sure there's an infamous 500+ thread that I OP'd on that very subject.

But you're right about one thing: I've softened up to Trump since the election. In part that's because he's done a better job than I was expecting. And in even larger part, it's because I can't help but love how much he continually pisses off all the right people.

A fair criticism, and I accept and acknowledge that I was wrong. I still don't agree with everything Trump does, but most of the time we don't deserve that man as POTUS and it's awe-inspiring to consider what he's managed to accomplish so far--and the level of popularity that he has managed to secure--against all odds and with the entire mainstream media apparatus / institutional power structure uniformly arrayed against him. Anyone who can't see that is willfully blind, deranged, or both.

I went on record numerous times before the election saying that I didn't like, respect, or support Trump. I won't bother digging up links but I'm sure others would be happy to do it for you (you know, the same ones who constantly bump my ill-considered 500+ thread... kind of odd that I have so many XO "enemies" who love to remind the bort about my failures of prediction, considering that I apparently prize popularity above all else around here and never miss an opportunity to kowtow to popular opinion on any subject...)

cant really say that most of the time hes aiming for "acceptance" or playing to the mob in that way. its a bit more nuanced than that--of course hes hoping for some kind of reaction since hes not posting in a vaccuum (well...)--but its really not the ingratiating kind of attention-seeking most of the time
