Seems like there is basically no objective benefit to buying a new car other than tech features which can be installed pretty cheap into an older car thay you can get for dirt cheap.

Seems crazy to me to shell out $30-40k for a new car that isn't a particularly special driving experience.

Are you getting Japanese or German?

Some luxury cars are ticking time bombs, so low mileage doesnt help much.

Smart choice.

A few year old Lexus is about the best way to go. It wont be riced out. Most people who buy Lexus cars tend to take decent care of them.

Find a reliable independent mechanic. Change synthetic oil every 6-10k miles. Change all fluids (transmission/coolant/inverter/etc) every like 70k miles. You should be good until 200k miles.

A lot of low miles cars are shit. Seals dried out and leaking, weak service history, neglected and basically left to sit.

Some are perfect garage kept impeccable service history, everything sorted.

The hard part is finding the latter.

Keep in mind anything rubber is as much a time issue as miles: tires, seals, hoses, timing belt, fuel lines, brake lines, window and door seals, etc. etc. But yes, if you find a 20 year old Lexus SC300 that was garaged by the old guy who owned it and rarely driven, that is a pretty credited car. But save the original radio as the replacement will look like shit and devalues the car.

Carfax only gets info from legit dealers, dmv, and autobodies that report it.

Ive had a car with significant body work that had nothing mentioned in carfax.

Also its so insanely easy to roll back the odometer that Im surprised its not done more often.

That's what sucks about Las Vegas. Everything is hot as fuck so the rubber dries out and leaks.

Aftermarket Bluetooth modules are available for just about any semi-popular model. They are small enough to fit in your dash and work very well. That takes care of all your audio concerns.

As for navigation, I have used in-car navigation systems from most of the manufacturers, and none of them comes close to Google maps on my phone.

Last, and certainly not least, infotainment systems are a nightmare from a usability standpoint. Hard buttons, analog instruments, and basic alpha-numeric displays when necessary are much better than LCD touchscreens and digging through menus.

I go back and forth between Waze and google, but have mostly settled on Google for reasons I'm not exactly sure of.
