Herman was asked who would be the play caller this season during his time on the stage at 2018 Big 12 Football Media Days, and the head coach said he isn't concerned with that at this point.
"The good thing is we don't have to make that decision now in the middle of July," Herman said in his response about Beck's play-calling future. "We're going to do whatever is best for the University of Texas and for our offense. I have always been very intimately involved in the play calling on game day. There isn't a play that is called that I don't have veto power of.

5-7 likely fired if there’s any viable alternative on the market, including potentially promoting Orlando 6-6 superhotseat but can stay if he fires his whole offensive staff and Orlando stays 7-5 hotseat but can cement his position if they win 9+ in 2019 8-4 live to fight another day but need to continue upward trend in 2019 and recruit as well as OU and A&M 9-3 he’s safe for at least three more seasons 10-2 Texas fans officially love him and are demanding that Texas make the playoff, claiming the Big 12 is a better conference than the SEC
It basically all hinges on Hand being able to take the O line from last year’s F-triple minus to at least a C-/D+. And we’ll know early—maybe even by halftime of UMD and certainly by the time they play USC. |
