Vandy seems to have a high floor but a very low ceiling.
Also LOL at Cornell - their Arts&Sciences and Engineering are good, but AEM is meh, and ILR and CHE are just absofuckinglute jokes
USC/UCLA are shitty b/c of the sheer number of CC transfers

the right tail at t20 public universities is actually pretty impressive, scrappy immigrant STEM kids etc who don't make it a good environment for little miss prep school to get her 3.6 to get into bigstate law, low tier med, some interview for a non-tech job at bigtech for women and gays, etc |

that said, i agree with your take. my general feeling re an LAC is that you'd be better served going to a university with corresponding prestige/selectivity, because they offer more, are more fun, and have a better alumni network and name recognition. |
