Repressing memories of traumatic experiences is a thing that happens, just like some people end up remembering extensive details about those experiences.

Actually I remember a lot of details from traumatic experiences when I was a kid, but most of those details are wrong. When I talk to other people who were there about it, or look at photos, I swear the simulation is fucking with me because there are certain things I've felt are absolutely clear in my mind, but it looks like my mind just made it up.
You don't remember details that long. You imprint a narrative and you brain creates the details to replace the memories you forget.
Which is why spaceporn is out of his fucking mind asking me to "ask women if they think they would not remember traumatic experiences after 30 years"
Of course they think they would remember correctly, and they would be wrong.
