In NYC it would be 2 mil. Chicago still has actual neighborhoods with families and people who did not come from money or buy their homes in the 80s.
Chicago more provincial culturally, but you can find international people to hang out with if that’s your thing.
The bad parts of Chicago are really bad. The good parts are great.
It’s flat as fuck around Chicago though Illinois has nice state parks within driving distance.
Chicagon is gentrifying rapidly and business relocating to the city, but long term there are serious questions about whether that will continue given the political leadership and taxes.
Ultimately Chicago is the capitol of the Midwest, New York is the capitol of the Western Hemisphere. |

take out the south side, which is one of the worst crime areas in the country but which you never need to venture to if you live in chicago, and the north side probably compares favorably with most cities and most of nyc |
