You could say the same for many shows though, right? It's more of a personal thing- I really like the aesthetic of mid-century to 70's era America. That's the real answer. I realize, ofc, that there have been plenty of great shows in which the above two things have been true; in those, however, they generally tell you something about life (Black Sails, Sopranos), or at least are entertaining (Fargo). I don't get any macro-level takeaway from MM, and the story seems to basically be a better done soap. I feel like I'm missing something. Thinking about Mad Men now, in comparison to what I've watched since then, yeah, there are other shows that I'd put ahead of it. |

Season 1 is a little uneven but S2 and S3 are GOAT status IMO and all three seasons are radically different from each other. The show does wrap up rather beautifully in S3, it was not cancelled prematurely, just fyi. |
