It used to be very regular - you'd play the teams in your division X number of time and the teams in your league (but not in your division) Y number of times. NL teams would never use the DH and AL teams always would.
Now it's all fucked up, you play interleague games with and without DH depending on the stadium. Different NL teams even in the same division have to face different AL teams, some may get easier opponents than others, so it unbalances everything. It's just totally unnecessary. |

You're right that the DH variation is weird, but this could be fixed by eliminating the DH for being a shitty corruption of good baseball. |

Each team would have 7 in-division teams and 8 out-division teams.
Play 14 games against each in-division team and 8 games against each out-division team. 14 * 7 + 8 * 8 = 162.
Division winners and 2 wild cards go to league playoffs. |
