That being said a lot of those guys don't get involved with the everyday 10k cases. You need to know how to deal with volume as well. So maybe I did it right?

I've always been good at bringing in cases. Ideally I would have done this straight out of law school and associated someone on them until I learned and then handle them on my own as able. The whole problem is the 50/50 partnership with little to no benefit at this point. Bottom line is if you can bring in cases you can make it work.

When you do sign up a massive case send it to someone who knows what they're doing and learn from them. I usually take a 40% or 50% share of the fee when I refer these out and it has always been worth every penny and more. Settled 5 mil this year on cases I referred out alone.

between salary/SEP/profit distributions almost all the dollars end up with me.

I have no electronic subscriptions (no billing software or LEXIS, etc), ive purchased two desktops in 10+ years. i use outlook and WORD for everything.

i have a phone bill, rent as above, and filing fees (which are recouped but still counted against gross)

most solos probably spend money on advertising, or more on rent, or business development, my business development is going to church festivals, etc.
