The students hid notes outside the classroom and used the internet during a closed book test. Some students met with each other during the test. |

If they get a slap on the wrist it will also create a shiTTTy precedent at whats supposed to be a prestigious T15.
The sympathy and compassion thing just doesn't work here. Why exactly should they not be expelled - what kind of message does this send to serious students at UT?
Pls note that I'm usually not a stickler for this kind of thing, but by the time you get to law school you should not be cheating on exams.
Exams in law school mean the difference between jobs and clerkships. Maybe I'm a gunner in the making but this kind of thing ought to be taken pretty seriously. |

That being said, they made a rational calculation based on the benefits of cheating, the risk of getting caught, and the punishment that would occur if they did get caught.

A far more plausible scenario is that the administration bluffed and told students that they were about to analyze outline for prints. And students under suspicion freaked out and gave names of other suspected communists. Of course this is all complete conjecture on my part. |
