We are coming back from the Inauguration in Washington and needed a cheap and quick place to stay on our way back. We checked in and our room was on the third floor. When we got to the room, we found the room had one mattress flipped and leaning on the wall, bedsheets on the floor, and dust hanging off one of the light fixtures in the entrance. We got our room changed and found this one had soap and water stains in the shower, a sink fixture with soap/toothpaste stains, and multiple spots of mildew. On top of that, the third floor we were originally on had a floor which was not vacuumed, grubby looking glass, and paint that was peeling off the walls. While I can understand that an Econo Lodge is not the best standard, I found that the hotel we stayed in on our way here was both cheaper AND cleaner than this one.
Overall, I'm disappointed. We have been Choice Hotel rewards members for over a decade, and this is the only time we've been truly disgusted and appalled by the condition of one of their hotels, even an Econo Lodge. Do NOT stay here!

Passing through Breezewood, as most people do, on our return to Toronto and needed to stay somewhere for the night. In hindsight I should have slept in the car. The front desk should have been a give away of what to expect, but I thought how bad could it be? Looks like the furniture from the 80's
First after check we are told to go to the room, no keys required as they are open? No locking doors?
We moved our car to unpack and noticed cars in the parking lot that look like they haven't moved in months. Then we realized people are living in the motel.
Once in the room we noticed how dirty and tired it was. Stains on the bed sheets, mold in bathroom, paint peeling, carpets dirty. So we never took our shoes off.
At 3 am we had the fire alarm go off in our room. Apparently there was an electrical issue, which I found out about after I called down to the front desk and because no one responded after 15 minutes ended walking down to find out what was going on. No apologies, just that someone is around and will fix it.
The final straw was their breakfast which consisted of bagels, cereal and waffles. Not bad for a budget hotel, except the whole eating area was dirty and looked as if it had not been cleaned in days.
Do yourself a favor and do not stay here! Keep driving or sleep in your car.
At night after driving 9 hours it looks deceiving and it is only in the daylight you get to see how bad the property really is. I can only hope corporate Econolodge reads this and shuts the place down!

Should Be Condemned!
This is, without a doubt, or exaggeration, the dirtiest, most run-down, smelliest, and un-cared for property I have ever had the misfortune of staying in! From the moment we stepped in, we were assaulted by the smell of mildew, rot and body odor. We made reservations (for a king bed) to stay here, as we knew we would be arriving late. We had just travelled 800 miles, and we were too tired to have to go room hunting elsewhere. We were told that there were no king beds, yet we still were charged the extra cost for a king room. The assistant manager claimed he was unable to change the amount charged. Our room reeked of mold and old cigarette smoke. The wall paper was peeling, the walls, windows and window sill were filthy; the bathroom faucet was corroded and running; the bathroom floor was dirty and sticky. We complained to the front desk, and were offered another room in which the bathroom walls were covered with black mold. We chose dirty over moldy.
While bringing in my bags from the car, I was approached by a woman who told me that she had a room there, and would take me to it if I would agree to buy her something to eat. There were two other women loitering in the parking lot at the same time.
The "breakfast" buffet consisted of bagels and waffles, and NOTHING ELSE!! There was no coffee, no fruit, no yogurt - - nothing. The trash can was over flowing onto the floor. At no time during our ordeal did we see any semblance of housekeeping personnel. During a walk around the property outdoors, I saw what appeared to be a piece of blood-soaked hall carpet hanging on a fence in an area ostensibly set aside for guests to grill and eat outdoors.
I wrote to the franchisee, "Choice" Hotels after our stay to inform them of the problems with this property, who promptly put me in touch with the assistant manager. The assistant manager, basically called me a liar, claiming that there were "NO prostitutes on the property", and that he did "everything in our power to make you comfortable. Eventually, I pushed this "assistant manager" into refunding my money. Even then, he did not refund the entire amount.
I expect that there will be a response from this person claiming that I am not telling the truth. If that is the case, I can only recommend that you take a look at the other reviews on this dump, and tell me who is being truthful!

What a dump!
I am a Choice Hotels member and I have told them that this place certainly gives them a bad name! The clerk who checked us in couldn't find my reservation because the computer was down, so she had to take the information by hand. She knew little to nothing about the points program and seemed generally to be in a fog. The sidewalk is crumbling at the entrance to the area where our room was located, and the entrance doors didn't even shut, let alone lock. When I called from our room about internet access, the clerk said that it worked "sometimes" and, if it worked, no login or password was necessary. She was right. She had mentioned twice that there is a restaurant and bar on premises but, after seeing the condition of everything else, we went to McDonald's! The free breakfast was one box of cereal, one box of instant hot cereal, bagels, There is a waffle maker, but no other hot breakfast. Avoid staying here if at all possible!

Top 3 Worst
I've stayed in some good hotels and I've stayed at some really bad hotels and this joins the ranks as one of the worst. I really don't even k ow where to begin. I will at least in out of fairness say that I don't expect the Econo-Lodge to be the Ritz. I knew what I was getting into when I booked.
What I do expect from a hotel is at the very least a clean room and this room was just filthy and disgusting. As you will see by my pics, somehow the housekeeping missed numerous (vomit?) stains throughout the room, the carpet had loose debis on (what appeared to be a claw or talon of some sort??) and the kicker was the sheets has specks of blood on them as well as the dreaded yellowish marks. Some of the electrical outlets were missing covers.
I could go on and on about this place, but if you read the other reviews I think at this point it's pretty much just beating a dead horse. This place should not be in business and I will never give Econo another chance again, and at this point in questioning whether I will ever stay at any Choice Brands again. Pay extra and stay with Marriott!!!!!

real dump
most of the smoke detectors dont work, some are just missing. if you walk down the hallways, there are just wires hanging out of the electrical boxes where they should be.
hotel was totally dirty, we had white socks on, they were black after walking around the room for like 3 hours. lights out in the stairwell. staff was rude and ignorant. the ice machine doesnt work, when i asked about it the guy at the desk laughed at me. Went to the kitchen to ask for some ice, guy there said it hasnt worked in months, and no i can not have any of "their" ice.
A lot of Water damage to the room, ceiling leaks and stained pretty bad, cracks in plaster.
the electrical wires in the room were damaged, they just taped them together. pretty dangerous.

Black Water Nightmare!
Only motel in Breezewood that accepts pets. We were a very late arrival. First thing we noticed was the water in the toilet was black. Didn't clear after flushing. Tank walls were black. Turning on the tap at the sink, the water came shooting out black, cleared a little, then remained a brownish color. Decided to stay but use bottled water. Did not take a shower the next morning, as the water again was black and only cleared a little. No blanket, only a sheet and the coverlet. Place was poorly maintained and pretty dirty. When I mentioned to the desk clerk that the Health Dept. should be notified with regard to the water, he said that they were working with the DOH and that the water has "an excess of manganese." Didn't offer to reduce the cost. Did not eat the free breakfast, as by that time, we didn't trust the cleanliness of anything.
Sent a poor review to the hotel (don't see it listed). The manager wrote to me apologizing that the "hotel did not exceed my expectations." Offered to give me a half rate at my next stay. I cannot imagine any circumstance under which I would stay at this motel.
