As a career federal law clerk in an area with very conservative jurors, I've seen countless plaintiff lawyers walk away with jack shit from a strong case that they spent years and a huge amount of money litigating.

I'll take a hard pass.

Can't really disagree. But I like that steady paycheck and future pension.

Explain how that happens. How would a strong case not get past dispositive motions and settle

Either the plaintiff asks for the moon and the stars or the defendant is hoping the local Sean Hannity fans will bail it out. Which they often do. Poor white conservatives here tend to not want to see someone get a big paycheck, especially for something like discrimination or excessive force during an arrest (which are our bread and butter cases).

biglaw firms are risk averse pussies and love 2 settle. it's the midlaw firms you have to watch out for. they will take you to trial.

Tbf both big plaintiffs firms and biglaw love to settle. After 5-7 years of litigation none of the big plaintiffs firms want to walk with nothing and their financiers are pressuring them to settle too
