I think most lawyers burn out on the law

But a lot of lawyers make really pathetic money and yet deal with very difficult situations and people. I don’t know how long you can be an underpaid lawyer before you’re so jaded that you just don’t give a shit about anything anymore. My clients don’t even say thank you. |

It’s not like I can just look out the window at the world below and “practice mindfulness.” And, how fucking hard is it to say “thank you” to someone? These people are disgusting cockroaches. but then i look at all the burned out lawyers, most of whom went to law school but ended up doing something else, while knowing how much i hated law school and law students, and knowing also that while i enjoy the idea of money, i don't have the ruthless disregard for other factors like finding my work interesting to some degree, and i know it just wouldn't fucking work and i'd be miserable grinding away for low six figures. so i say fuck it and keep putting one purposeless day after another at my current job. |
