We've had an absolute ton of BLM/police protests, but no property damage and no major issues (one or two shootings and fights, but that's what happens when you get a bunch of people together, and nothing widespread, no worse than the parking lot of a Bills game) (I do not live in Buffalo). Most cops are 100% on-board and (potentially) as a result the protesters are very much playing by the rules. |

Tons of outdoor dining, suspended open container laws, retail is open, several pools (hotel rooftop and community) are open, parks are open, etc. It's also nicer now because it isn't crowded -- no tourists and no midtown + fidi crowds because offices are closed and tons of people left. If you can afford it, it's not bad at all.
Midtown, fidi, hudson yards (i.e., mostly office areas) are ghost towns and weird, but mostly residential neighborhoods are fine. |
