The charter schools are doing a hybrid approach with 75% in-person instruction for grades preK-2, acknowledging young kids can't learn remotely. Suffice to say -- we will never send our children to a NYC public school charter or otherwise. The charter schools tend to be run by crackpots into weird teaching theories like "no homework." They are hit and miss at best too. The ultimate problem is in the US the people who go into teaching are dumbs. In European countries its second only to medicine in terms of the quality of the people who go into the profession. Here the only people who teach are people who thought accounting was too hard. i get that poors dont ever read to their kids and let them plug into fortnite for 9 straight hours, but these same parents ignore the homework anyway, and instead good high IQ parents are stuck with their kids doing rote shit that doesnt increase learning at all
