Also include any relevant factors like whether you live in downtown, suburbs, rural, etc.
My recommended shopping list is here: http://www.autoadmit.com/thread.php?thread_id=4586578&forum_id=2#41143621 -- but I don't give specific recs and there's a lot left up to you, as specific recs depend on price range and your situation; you could spend anywhere from $5,000 to $25,000 buying everything on that list, depending on how gucci you go.
Poast budget, any guns/tactical gear you already own, and your situation and I will give personal recs on what to buy before the coming troubles.
EDIT: This is Hegemon; if you have questions and don't want to drop them here, make a thread with my name in it.

solid, you're close to set as far as guns (still need a .308 or Creedmoor). those suppressors are niceeeee.
what's your budget for gear? do you already have plates, carrier, or chest rig?
and are you downtown in a major city/suburbs/rural?

Yeah I'd love a .308/Creedmoor type setup, but I am poor as fuck right now and need to research that stuff a bit.
No plates or gear like that
Currently close to downtown of a major city, but I can easily escape to deep suburbs if I need to

OK. You keep ignoring the budget question, so I'm gonna just give you the cheapest recs in buy order and you can stop when you run out of money.
1. Carry holster for whichever of your pistols you wanna CCW, if you don't already have one -- $60-120. Idk which you would carry so I'm not gonna link a specific one.
2. Viper Tactical chest rig -- $60: https://www.military1st.com/bvchrigsopscoy-viper-special-ops-chest-rig-coyote.html
- cheap but not bad at all; way better than condor shit
3. Gas cans for your car -- $80: https://www.amazon.com/GarageBOSS-GB351-Gallon-Press-Pour/dp/B07GBBG5LZ/
- IDK what you drive but your car is the only thing keeping you from walking everywhere when shit hits the fan, so unless you drive a pickup with an auxiliary fuel tank in the bed, get some of these you can throw in your trunk or backseat that you can fill up when things start looking bad so you can extend your range if you have to drive.
4. Cheap backpack -- $50-80: https://www.amazon.com/NEVO-Backpack-Expandable-Capacity-Lightweight/dp/B07PYS7LSD
- I don't know what size you need to pack basic survival shit (fire kit, water container and filtration, tarp/poncho, cordage, sleeping bag) and anything else you want to be able to keep on you if you're on foot, but don't get one bigger than 60l -- you may have to hump that bitch around and weight matters. This should function as a day pack if you need to go out when shit hits and you're already holed up.
5. Solatac Multi-Casualty first aid kit -- $270: https://solatac.com/home/index.php/product/multi-cas-kit/
- if you or your family have an injury you can't treat, you are FUCKED. Get this and then learn how to use it.
6. Lifestraws -- $20-200: https://www.lifestraw.com/collections/frontpage
- You need water filtration for you and any in your party; if you have family, get them each a straw and also get the family filtration system so you can set it up wherever you go. Which individual models you get is up to you -- basic straw is cheaper but the Go and Flex model that come with a bottle and bladder respectively are way easier to use.
7. Baofeng radio pack -- $200: https://www.amazon.com/BaoFeng-Antennas-Speaker-Batteries-Programming/dp/B077BRMVLB/
- get this if you have family you're gonna wanna communicate with; if not, get one baofeng and spend the rest on a AA battery clamshell and an extended antenna for it.
8. Duty/battle belt -- $200-350: https://www.ronintactics.com/store/p80/Task_Force_%28TF%29_Belt.html
- it's helpful to have a belt you can quickly put on and take off with your gear on it, rather than trying to use your pants belt as a molle belt. Outfit as needed with the following:
• AR mag pouches: https://esstac.com/5-56/
• Pistol mag pouches: https://esstac.com/shop-all/magazine-pouches/pistols/
• Pistol holster: safariland is best but which model just depends on which gun you wanna carry
9. Level 3 plates -- $400-3,000 at this point you should be saving for armor. I know it's expensive. IDK which level plates you want, but get level 3 or better, and I recommend shooter's cut in at least 10x12. Buy Hesco, Ceradyne, Velocity Systems, Protech, BAE Systems, LTC/Hoplite, TenCate, Highcom, or Mehler Vario -- most other brands are chinkshit. AR500, Botach, any steel armor, etc. is largely a waste of money.
10. Carrier -- see approved brands here: http://www.autoadmit.com/thread.php?thread_id=4586578&forum_id=2#41143621
11. Thompson/Center bolt action in .308 or Creedmoor -- $550: https://www.tcarms.com/firearms/bolt-action-rifles/venture/venture-ii
- This is so low because you're very urban and also probably aren't going to be actively sniping people; if you want to be an effective urban guerilla though, this should be way higher. Decent value for the money.
12. Vortex Diamondback 6-24x scope for the bolt gun -- $500: https://vortexoptics.com/vortex-diamondback-tactical-6-24x50-ffp-riflescope.html?vortex_reticle=22
13. Harris type bipod for bolt gun -- $45: https://www.amazon.com/UTG-High-pro-Shooters-Bipod-Rubber/dp/B001BR4VME
There you go.

cosign this, you need 6 guns to maximize capabilities:
- AR in 5.56
- pistol (full size or mid size)
- bolt or gas gun in 7.62/Creedmoor/bigger (e.g. .300 WinMag, .338 Lapua)
- .22lr semiautomatic rifle
- semiauto shotgun
- subcompact pistol
the rest is just extra, and I'd put armor/chest rig before all but two of those guns.

Glock 17 (larger hands and no plan to conceal) or Glock 19

Get as much ammo as you can purchase with the rest of the money.

Sweet. That's enough to get everything you could need except night vision.
1. Wilson's Enhanced P320 Carry Action Tune with Straight trigger (second link claims in-stock) -- $1,400: https://shopwilsoncombat.com/Order-Wilson_SIG-Collaboration-Pistols/products/1306/ / https://www.smpguns.com/wilson-combat/beretta-glock-sig-1401/sig-wilson-combat-p320-carry-tan-module-9mm-action-tune-with-straight-trigger-3131371
- three pistol mags -- $150: https://gunmagwarehouse.com/sig-sauer-p250-p320-9mm-21-round-magazine.html
- Concealed Carry holster -- $65: https://fieldcraftsurvival.com/products/sig-sauer-p320-low-vis-holster-iwb
- Surefire pistol light -- $300: https://www.surefire.com/products/illumination/weapon-lights/x300u-b/

2. A high quality AR. I've given you a few options because with that budget, you can sort of pick whatever you want. My recommendation is get the SR-15 or the Radian with the Vortex for $5k. That said, there are a few options for you below. Price is the max you should pay for that model:
- KAC SR-15 -- $2,800: https://www.gunbroker.com/item/881868909 / https://www.gunbroker.com/item/881888136
- Triarc TSR-15SE -- $2,300: https://www.gunbroker.com/item/881669655
- Radian Model 1 -- $2,800 (first link is more because it comes with an excellent scope and mount; a great deal if you want it): https://www.gunbroker.com/item/880981697 / https://www.gunbroker.com/item/880599948 / https://www.gunbroker.com/item/881780522
- LaRue PredatOBR -- $2,600: https://www.gunbroker.com/item/880051851
- Christensen Arms CA-15 -- $2,200: https://www.gunbroker.com/item/879608651
- Daniel Defense M4 V7 -- $1,900: https://www.gunbroker.com/item/881304796 / https://www.gunbroker.com/item/881805902 / https://www.gunbroker.com/item/881597959
- Geissele Super Duty -- $1,900: https://www.gunbroker.com/item/881946995
3. Ammo. Zero your optics with the 62gr, but other than that do nothing with it; practice with the 55gr. Stockpile 1,000 rounds of 5.56 (as much of this as possible should be 62gr); the rest can be used to train.
- 2,000 rounds 5.56 -- $1,420: https://www.finfeatherfur.com/winchester-5-56-nato-62gr-m855-fmj-green-tip-case-of-1000-rounds/ + https://miwallcorp.com/winchester-ammunition-5-56-55-Grain-full-metal-jacket-1000-rounds-case/
4. Ferro Slingster -- $55: https://www.skdtac.com/Ferro-Concepts-The-Slingster-Updated-p/fer.113.htm
5. 10 ETS AR Mags -- $180: https://www.etsgroup.us/ETS-Group-AR15-Magazine-30-Round-p/ar15-30.htm
6. AR light -- $430: https://www.opticsplanet.com/surefire-scout-light-500-lumens-white-light.html
7. A high quality Low Power Variable Optic. These are great because you can use them as a red dot and also as a scope -- if you need a single do-it-all optic, these are it. If you got the Radian with the Vortex above, you can skip this. Vortex is backordered but you can find them on Tacswap. I'd get the Vortex because it's a little cheaper with better zoom, better field of view, and they have the best warranty around, but Nightforce is good enough SOCOM adopted it. Can't go wrong with either.
- Vortex Razor Gen III 1-10x24 -- $2,300: https://www.opticsplanet.com/vortex-razor-hd-gen-iii-1-10x24-riflescope.html / https://www.tacswap.com/post/5f3d149e8351100007af373b
- Nightforce ATACR 1-8x24 -- $2,800: https://www.opticsplanet.com/nightforce-atacr-1-8x24-34mm-riflescope.html
8. Badger 34mm scope condition one modular mount -- $305: https://ustacticalsupply.com/conditiononemodularmount.aspx
9. Offset red dot. The utility in having this offset in addition to the scope is a) having a backup sight in the unlikely event the scope fails, and b) dots have unlimited eye relief, meaning they are much faster than a scope in close quarters. Offsetting a dot with your LPVO is best of both worlds.
- Aimpoint Micro T2 -- $800: https://www.opticsplanet.com/aimpoint-micro-t-2-red-dot-sight-200170.html
10. Badger offset red dot mount (backordered) -- $90: https://www.eurooptic.com/Badger-Ordnance-COMM-J-arm-Tan-Mount-200-10.aspx + https://www.eurooptic.com/Badger-Ordnance-COMM-Aimpoint-T1-T2-Tan-Micro-Sight-Mount-200-11.aspx
- If you got the Radian with the Vortex on a Scalarworks mount, get the Arisaka offset mount instead (being careful to get the correct baseplate) -- $140: https://milspecretail.com/product/firearm-accessories/sights-optics/optic-mounts/arisaka-defense-offset-optic-mount/
11. Here's where you have to figure out part of how you want to set up your plate carrier. It's fairly personalized -- what I like on mine may be very different than you want on yours. At a minimum, I'd do the Kangaroo panel, side pouches and then get a radio pocket, some 5.56 pouches (which strap onto the lasercuts all over the carrier), and maybe a few utility pouches. This gives you the ability to add carrying capacity as needed, but don't do so unnecessarily -- you should try to go as slick as possible. All told, you're looking at around $700 here.
- LBT G3 Plate Carrier -- $355: https://lbtinc.com/collections/g3
- Kangaroo panel -- $70: https://lbtinc.com/collections/g3/products/6904b
- Side pouches -- $70: https://lbtinc.com/collections/g3/products/2739qk
- 5.56 speed draw pouches (only need one or two of these) -- $37: https://lbtinc.com/collections/apchs/products/6146
- 5.56 pouches -- $45: https://lbtinc.com/collections/rifle-magazine-pouches/products/9010?variant=16404313079851
- Radio pocket -- $55: https://lbtinc.com/collections/radio-pouches/products/6015d
- Utility pouches: https://lbtinc.com/collections/utlp
12. Hesco 4800 Large 10x12 shooter cut plates x2 -- $2,600: https://sabersolutions.com/collections/hesco-armor/products/hesco-4800-level-iv-standalone?variant=21332281720912
13. Mayflower UW chest rig (it's not uncommon to want a chest rig for times you don't want to lug armor around but also want some sort of fighting capability in the even something unexpected comes up; typically used when moving long distances on foot and trying to stay lightweight) -- $203: https://www.velsyst.com/products/uw-chest-rig-gen-iv
14. A fighting belt is different from a regular belt in that it has molle webbing to attach pouches. It should have a holster, at least one pistol mag pouch, and first aid kit; the rest is personal preference -- I like to run two AR mags on my belt, there are some people who run four, some who run none. More info on setting up a belt here: https://youtu.be/__78Ve2dIUo General upside of a belt is that it puts weight on your hips instead of shoulders (where a plate carrier or chest rig places it). I'm linking the QLS system with the holster below because it's very handy when in vehicles to be able to take the holster off the belt. All told, looking at about $5-600
- Ronin Tactics molle belt -- $200: https://www.ronintactics.com/store/p80/Task_Force_%28TF%29_Belt.html
- Safariland 7377 pistol holster with QLS system: https://safariland.com/products/model-7377-7ts-als-concealment-belt-loop-holster-34850 + https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000MF48AQ/ + https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002868Q46/ + https://www.trex-arms.com/store/New-Thigh-Strap/ + https://store.otdefense.com/products/als-nub-mod-black
- Pistol mag pouches: https://esstac.com/shop-all/magazine-pouches/pistols/
- Blue force micro trauma kit (basic supplies, molle mount -- don't use to treat things when you have access to the big solatac kit) -- $130: https://www.blueforcegear.com/medical-items.html
- AR mag pouches: https://esstac.com/5-56/
15. ESEE 4 knife -- $115: https://www.bladehq.com/item--ESEE-RAT-Cutlery-RC4--4378
- you can carry this on the plate carrier or on your belt, but you should have it on one of those. I like belt.
16. Peltor Sport Tac 500 electronic hearing protection -- $120: https://www.amazon.com/Peltor-Electronic-Protector-Bluetooth-Protection/dp/B06W56YRWJ
- If you want any situational awareness at all after 10 rounds, you'll want these
17. Waterproof backpack (50 liter) -- $60: https://www.amazon.com/NEVO-Backpack-Expandable-Capacity-Lightweight/dp/B07PYS7LSD
- You should carry the survival kit (#19) in this
18. Solatac Multi-Casualty first aid kit (add ibuprofen and tylenol to this) -- $270: https://solatac.com/home/index.php/product/multi-cas-kit/
19. Five CATourniquets (add 3 to main med kit, keep two on you in pockets/pouches when shit kicks off) -- $150: https://www.narescue.com/combat-application-tourniquet-c-a-t.html
20. Survival kit. This is a combination of things you should throw together; I realize you're likely far from a survivalist, but if shit happens and you've got to move, you'd rather have this stuff than not -- trust me. Keep this in the waterproof backpack.
- You need water filtration for you and any in your party; if you have family, get them each a straw and also get the family filtration system so you can set it up wherever you go. Which individual models you get is up to you -- basic straw is cheaper but the Go and Flex models that come with a bottle and bladder respectively are way easier to use. Lifestraws -- $20-200: https://www.lifestraw.com/collections/frontpage
- Fire kit. This is just a gallon ziplock, which you should fill a quarter of the way with petroleum jelly, and then fill to the halfway mark with cotton balls. Close the ziplock and knead the vaseline into the cotton balls until they're thoroughly saturated; add more vaseline as needed. Add a 5 pack of bic lighters and this is set.
- 200' of paracord -- $25: https://www.amazon.com/PARACORD-PLANET-Mil-Spec-Commercial-Paracord/dp/B00ACL4VJI/
- 20° sleeping bag (if in colder climate, you may want to get a better one than this; I can recommend a few) -- $130: https://www.thenorthface.com/shop/eco-trail-synthetic-20-nf0a3s76

- Poncho/shelter -- $40: https://www.amazon.com/USGI-Industries-Military-Emergency-Survival/dp/B083YNW98M/
- Water container, either a canteen or bladder; I like this one:
- Food; you can get MREs, or get 5 pounds of beef jerky and some of these bars -- just make sure you have some non-perishable food ready to go in case you have to hit the road: https://www.sosproducts.com/SOS-food-bar-p/350237.htm
- Solar phone charger -- $40: https://www.amazon.com/26800mAh-Riapow-Wireless-Portable-Flashlight/dp/B088WG2VXT/

21. Radio. if you have family, get the set; otherwise, get the single.
- Baofeng set -- $150: https://www.amazon.com/BaoFeng-Amateur-Walkie-Talkies-Portable/dp/B07ZX5CWPW/
- Baofeng single -- $110: https://www.amazon.com/BTECH-UV-5X3-Tri-Band-Amateur-Earpiece/dp/B01J2W4JUI/ + https://www.amazon.com/Nagoya-NA-320A-2M-1-25M-70CM-144-220-440Mhz-BTECH/dp/B01K10B9XK/ + https://www.amazon.com/BTECH-PC03-Genuine-Programming-Cable/dp/B00HUB0ONK/
22. Five to ten gas cans (depending on your vehicle/space) -- $125-250: https://www.amazon.com/GarageBOSS-GB351-Gallon-Press-Pour/dp/B07GBBG5LZ/
- this will extend your driving range significantly; when things start getting bad you can fill them and place them in your trunk
23. Salomon Quest boots -- $230: https://www.rei.com/product/127770/salomon-quest-4d-3-gtx-hiking-boots-mens
- Best boots I've ever worn, and if things go to shit you need footwear that can take a beating in the event you're outside
24. Shooting gloves -- $45: https://www.outdoorresearch.com/us/ironsight-sensor-gloves-266842?cat=136,26,6
25. Ruger 10/22 (use for plinking, small game) -- $230: https://www.sportsmans.com/shooting-gear-gun-supplies/rifles/ruger-1022-carbine-blackgray-semi-automatic-rifle-22-long-rifle/p/1538005
- Leapers 1-8x28 scope -- $150: https://www.opticsplanet.com/leapers-utg-1-8x28-30mm-close-quarters-multi-range-combat-riflescope.html
- Talley mount rings (high) -- $60: https://www.talleymanufacturing.com/product/ruger-rimfire-10-22-steel-rings-for-dovetail-setup/

26. Thompson/Center bolt action in .308 -- $550: https://www.tcarms.com/firearms/bolt-action-rifles/venture/venture-ii
- As I said in the other poast where I recommend this, it's as low as it is because you're very urban and also probably aren't going to be actively sniping people; if you want to be an effective, active urban guerilla, this should be much higher and we would prioritize a better bolt gun + add in a Kestrel ballistics calculator; as is, this is sufficient for some rudimentary sniping or for hunting.
- Vortex Diamondback 6-24x scope -- $500: https://vortexoptics.com/vortex-diamondback-tactical-6-24x50-ffp-riflescope.html?vortex_reticle=22
- Harris type bipod -- $45: https://www.amazon.com/UTG-High-pro-Shooters-Bipod-Rubber/dp/B001BR4VME
- 750 rounds 7.62 (use up to 250rds of this to zero optics and create a dope chart) $150 x3 -- https://lohmanarms.com/product/fiocchi-308-winchester-147gr-fmj-ammo-250ct-bulk-pack/
TOTAL: ~$19,850 (estimating high where item choice is allowed, and assigning guesstimates to items not priced/linked, such as lighters).
I highly recommend getting training with this stuff. This list will give you excellent quality stuff, such that you will be more than set equipment-wise for anything that comes your way. However, if you don't have training, you're still gonna be up shit creek without a paddle. I fucking love nice guns and gear, as is surely obvious, but if forced to choose, it is better to buy middle-of-the-road equipment and spend the rest on training. I recommend the following training companies, in order of preference:
- GBRS Group (the very best on this list -- entirely former DEVGRU SEALs -- but idk if they're taking civilian clients rn)
- Fieldcraft Survival
- Tony Cowden / Capable Inc.
- Haley Strategic
- Ronin Tactics (stupidly kitschy at times, but one of the best tactical instructors I've ever seen)
- Aztec Training Services
- Core Vision Training
- Esoteric / Yousef Sansour
- Frank Proctor Shooting
- Kagwerks
- Viking Tactics / Kyle Lamb
- Vigilance Elite
- Pat McNamara
- Direct Action Resource Center (DARC)
- Shaw Shooting
- Combat Shooting and Tactics (CSAT) / Paul Howe
- Baer Solutions
- Lead Faucet Tactical
- Trident Concepts
- Thunder Ranch
- Gunsite Academy
- Sage Dynamics
- EAG Tactical
Let me know if you have any questions (or if you'd like the longer range gun prioritized a little more highly).

Yeah, no problem.
If you want info on setting up a plate carrier, belt, or rifle, look up:
- Garand Thumb (AFSOC guy who does a ton of gear reviews; look at his setup videos)
- Fieldcraft Survival / Mike Glover (ex-CAG, CIA, and Green Beret who runs a training company; look up his "basics of pistol" and "basics of carbine" videos, and his CQB videos)
- Vigilance Elite / Shawn Ryan (ex-SEAL and CIA, runs training company, has great videos on CQB room entry and what range you should use to zero your carbine)
- UF Pro's Guide to CQB (run by Israeli SOF): https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLOv4gE-dhrTBknVIi9Ey8B7Anx80C21n7

It's
a) motherfucking expensive as fuck to get quality (hell, even the shit stuff is expensive)
b) the single greatest advantage you can have
If you have the cash to burn, fuck yeah; if not, it's not gonna kill you -- people have been doing combat without it for thousands of years.
NV can be scopes, binoculars, or goggles; goggles are typically best. Goggles are typically helmet mounted; this can be either a ballistic helmet which would serve as body armor, or a "bump" helmet which really protects against nothing except bumping your head -- but it is lighter and much cheaper. Another option is a mount like this: https://www.raptortactical.com/home/106-raptor-tactical-sentinel-skull-crusher-gen-20.html -- I don't recommend given that if you're getting nods, you can afford a decent ballistic helmet.
There are a few different types:
- monoculars which cover one eye; half of your vision is dark and half is NV. this is known to take a ton of training and reps to get used to. Don't recommend unless you're able to commit that time.
- dual tubes (e.g. a tube for both eyes); this is much better, but also more expensive. This is best middle ground imo.
- pano tubes which run two tubes to each eye -- see: https://www.eotechinc.com/ground-panoramic-night-vision-goggle-gpnvg-white-phosphor -- and will no shit run you $50,000 -- it's also what US SOF uses and there's nothing better. You really don't need this unless you have cash to burn.
Best color to get is white phosphor, imo; see this video for comparison and realize all three devices he's using are incredibly high quality ones: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zns4sqYTVDg&ab_channel=NITEWALKER
If you get NVG, you can mount infrared and laser to your rifle to see and shoot even better in the dark

OK, you're pretty well set gun-wise, but here are a few options:
- PSA 9mm "pistol" -- $750. Out of stock rn but decent home defense PCC, can stick a dot and a light on for another few hundred dollars: https://palmettostatearmory.com/psa-8-9mm-1-10-7-lightweight-m-lok-moe-sba3-pistol-5165450029.html
- Suppressors; get a form 1 and suppress whatever gun you anticipate grabbing if something goes bump in the night (presumably the Glock) -- it will be far less traumatic on your wife and kid if that goes as quietly as possible.
- Alternatively, if the glock is your daily carry, buy a Sig P320 and form 1 that.
- If you don't already carry and you like Glock, get a Glock 26 and your CCW.

Alright. My recommendation will look fairly similar to the one I gave the previous guy with a large budget -- if you take a look at the price tag and would rather I go cheaper, I can do that. If you want to go minimalist, go with just the AR and accessories, pistol accessories, belt and accessories, and chest rig; if you want a more comprehensive solution, get everything -- view the survival gear as an insurance policy, it will be especially useful if you have to get out of sorta-downtown.
1. Pistol accessories:
- Concealed Carry holster -- $80: https://hiddenhybridholsters.com/products/glock-glock-19-23-25-32-38-single-clip-strong-side-appendix-iwb?_pos=4&_sid=adcd6107d&_ss=r
- Surefire pistol light -- $300: https://www.surefire.com/products/illumination/weapon-lights/x300u-b/
- Trijicon RMR red dot -- $550: https://www.opticsplanet.com/trijicon-3-25-adj-red-rmr-type-2.html
- 1,000 rounds 9mm (save 500 rounds; the rest can be used to train) -- $550: https://www.extremereloadingnv.com/product/extreme-reloading-9mm-115gr-rn-reload-1/
- Radian Model 1 -- $2,800 (first link is more because it comes with an excellent scope and mount; a great deal if you want it): https://www.gunbroker.com/item/880981697 / https://www.gunbroker.com/item/880599948 / https://www.gunbroker.com/item/881780522 / https://radianweapons.com/rifle?SID=58vfs3ukqbh4v2go5nvpicnh95
- Triarc TSR-15SE -- $2,300: https://www.gunbroker.com/item/881669655
- LaRue PredatOBR -- $2,600: https://www.gunbroker.com/item/880051851
- Christensen Arms CA-15 -- $2,200: https://www.gunbroker.com/item/879608651
- Daniel Defense M4 V7 -- $1,900: https://www.gunbroker.com/item/881304796 / https://www.gunbroker.com/item/881805902 / https://www.gunbroker.com/item/881597959
3. Ammo/mags/light.
- 10 ETS AR Mags -- $180: https://www.etsgroup.us/ETS-Group-AR15-Magazine-30-Round-p/ar15-30.htm
- AR light -- $430: https://www.opticsplanet.com/surefire-scout-light-500-lumens-white-light.html
4. Ferro Slingster -- $55: https://www.skdtac.com/Ferro-Concepts-The-Slingster-Updated-p/fer.113.htm
5. Forward grip -- $15-30: https://bravocompanyusa.com/vertical-grips-hand-stops/
- Whether to use a vertical foregrip, or an angled grip -- called a "KAG" on that page -- or nothing at all is an issue of personal preference, but in my experience they make it remarkably easier to reduce muzzle rise. Also realize that the short vertical grips are meant to be held like this: https://www.pewpewtactical.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/Daniel-Defense-Vertical-Grip-2-1-768x512.jpg -- rather than like a handle.
7. Badger 34mm scope condition one modular mount -- $305: https://ustacticalsupply.com/conditiononemodularmount.aspx
8. Offset red dot. The utility in having this offset in addition to the scope is a) having a backup sight in the unlikely event the scope fails, and more importantly, b) dots have unlimited eye relief, meaning they are much faster than a scope in close quarters. Offsetting a dot with your LPVO is best of both worlds.
- Aimpoint Micro T2 -- $800: https://www.opticsplanet.com/aimpoint-micro-t-2-red-dot-sight-200170.html
9. Badger offset red dot mount (backordered) -- $90: https://www.eurooptic.com/Badger-Ordnance-COMM-J-arm-Tan-Mount-200-10.aspx + https://www.eurooptic.com/Badger-Ordnance-COMM-Aimpoint-T1-T2-Tan-Micro-Sight-Mount-200-11.aspx
- If you got the Radian with the Vortex on a Scalarworks mount, get the Arisaka offset mount instead (being careful to get the correct baseplate) -- $140: https://milspecretail.com/product/firearm-accessories/sights-optics/optic-mounts/arisaka-defense-offset-optic-mount/
10. Here's where you have to figure out part of how you want to set up your plate carrier. It's fairly personalized -- what I like on mine may be very different than you want on yours. At a minimum, I'd do the Kangaroo panel, side pouches and then get a radio pocket, some 5.56 pouches (which strap onto the lasercuts all over the carrier), and maybe a few utility pouches. This gives you the ability to add carrying capacity as needed, but don't do so unnecessarily -- you should try to go as slick as possible. All told, you're looking at around $700 here.
- LBT G3 Plate Carrier -- $355: https://lbtinc.com/collections/g3
- Kangaroo panel -- $70: https://lbtinc.com/collections/g3/products/6904b
- Side pouches -- $70: https://lbtinc.com/collections/g3/products/2739qk
- 5.56 speed draw pouches (only need one or two of these) -- $37: https://lbtinc.com/collections/apchs/products/6146
- 5.56 pouches -- $45: https://lbtinc.com/collections/rifle-magazine-pouches/products/9010?variant=16404313079851
- Radio pocket -- $55: https://lbtinc.com/collections/radio-pouches/products/6015d
- Utility pouches: https://lbtinc.com/collections/utlp
11. Hesco 4800 Large 10x12 shooter cut plates x2 -- $2,600: https://sabersolutions.com/collections/hesco-armor/products/hesco-4800-level-iv-standalone?variant=21332281720912

26. AGM NVG-40 Dual Tube Gen3 NVG -- $6,700: https://www.nightvision4less.com/agm-nvg-40-3aw2-dual-tube-nv-goggle-gen-3-auto-gated-white-phosphor-level-2.aspx
- To start with, you don't NEED night vision. You could ignore this entirely and probably not know the difference. But if you want the biggest advantage there is, this is it. There are several different types of night vision devices; suffice it to say that this is one of the best, and while you could spend about double this on NV stuff, your marginal utility diminishes pretty sharply. There are two different vision types: green phosphor (which is the stereotypical dark lime green), and white phosphor; here's a video illustrating the difference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zns4sqYTVDg&ab_channel=NITEWALKER
- if you do get NV, that gives you another option: infrared. NV lets you see infrared, meaning that you can use IR lasers and illuminators to see very well in the dark and shoot very well in the dark -- and ofc IR is invisible to the naked eye. This is what US SOF uses to rayp sand niggers in the middle east. If you do get NVG, mount this to your rifle and zero it: L3/EOTech IR laser and illuminator -- $1,400: https://tnvc.com/shop/l3-insight-atpial-c-class1-ir-laser/
TOTAL: ~$30,000 (~$21,000 without night vision).
I again highly recommend getting training with this stuff. This list will give you top quality equipment, such that you will be more than set equipment-wise for anything that comes your way. However, without training from knowledgeable people in how to use them, you're still in a bad position when the nigs come knocking. I recommend the following training companies, in order of preference:
- GBRS Group (the very best on this list -- entirely former DEVGRU SEALs -- but idk if they're taking civilian clients rn)
- Fieldcraft Survival
- Tony Cowden / Capable Inc.
- Haley Strategic
- Ronin Tactics (stupidly kitschy at times, but one of the best tactical instructors I've ever seen)
- Aztec Training Services
- Core Vision Training
- Esoteric / Yousef Sansour
- Frank Proctor Shooting
- Kagwerks
- Viking Tactics / Kyle Lamb
- Vigilance Elite
- Pat McNamara
- Direct Action Resource Center (DARC)
- Shaw Shooting
- Combat Shooting and Tactics (CSAT) / Paul Howe
- Baer Solutions
- Lead Faucet Tactical
- Trident Concepts
- Thunder Ranch
- Gunsite Academy
- Sage Dynamics
- EAG Tactical
Let me know if you have any questions.

Alright. Survival gear is because you may have to get the fuck out of there. Alternatively, you could spend that cash on:
• Ruger 10/22 -- $230: https://www.sportsmans.com/shooting-gear-gun-supplies/rifles/ruger-1022-carbine-blackgray-semi-automatic-rifle-22-long-rifle/p/1538005
- Leapers 1-8x28 scope -- $150: https://www.opticsplanet.com/leapers-utg-1-8x28-30mm-close-quarters-multi-range-combat-riflescope.html
- Talley mount rings (high) -- $60: https://www.talleymanufacturing.com/product/ruger-rimfire-10-22-steel-rings-for-dovetail-setup/
- Extended 25 round mags -- $45: https://gunmagwarehouse.com/2-pack-ruger-bx-25-10-22-22lr-25-round-magazine.html
- 500 rounds .22 -- $60 -- https://www.sgammo.com/product/22-lr-ammo/500-round-brick-22-lr-remington-thunderbolt-40-grain-lead-hv-bulk-pack-ammo-tb22b
I recommend the survival gear though -- if you're in the city and can't leave, you could end up ultrafucked. Now then:
1. Any of the following for under $900 -- but prioritize ones with a longer handguard/rail like the first or second link:

4. 7 mags for rifle -- $91: https://www.cabelas.com/shop/en/magpul-pmag-30-ar-m4-gen-m2-moe-magazine
5. Red dot for rifle -- $140: https://www.joeboboutfitters.com/Holosun-Paralow-HS403B-Red-Dot-Sight-with-Push-But-p/holo-hs403b.htm
6. Streamlight light/mount/button for rifle -- $170: https://www.patriotoutfitters.com/streamlight-pro-tac-rail-mount-hl-x-weapon-light
8. Viper tactical chest rig -- $60: https://www.military1st.com/bvchrigsopscoy-viper-special-ops-chest-rig-coyote.html
9. Radio -- $60: https://www.amazon.com/Rechargeable-Dual-Band-Handheld-Complete-Programming/dp/B08GPS9MF9/

Suburban.
Own: Mini-14 in 556 (own because I'm in a DEEP BLUE state and it looks less scary - previously owned a Colt AR Carbine), Colt 1911 in 45. Civilian gun ownership in my region is about 0%
Budget: Anything under $30K, but I feel like I'm covered.

People love to hate on them, with some validity (it's not as refined as the AR). I like mine (as a former LE6920 owner). I have the newer heavy barrel version with a stock flat top pic rail, with mid-level reflex site and 3x flip-away magnif on it. I'm 2-3 MoA with it. I'm no better with a HBAR competition. I can hit steel to 300. Probably 5000 rounds through it. No failures, except two f2f with one box of cheap Russian .223 (it has a known weak hammer spring, so get light strikes on eastern block primers). Only thing I'd add is a flashlight. They make a mount to put it below the barrel or off to side. Never got around to buying one. If SHTF, I'd likely take a saw to the stock and shorten pull length an inch or two.
Biggest bullshit is the fact extended mags are like $50 bucks, so I only have a handful.
My next buy was already going to be a 9mm. Never got around to it.
Would probably buy a cheap 22 too.
EDIT: Thoughts on AR pistols? Not worth risking right now with incoming Biden admin and recent NFA takebacks on braces?

Thanks for pistol recs. I'll check them out.
Thoughts on pistol AR vs. a compliant pinned and welded 14.5 inch barrel? I was about to by an AR pistol a few years back. Glad I didn't. I have no interest in fucking with the NFA. I live in a GUNSRBAD area of a GUNSRBAD state (which for historical reasons doesn't have many gun laws). Not worth it to me. Both state and federal prosecutors would fuck me if I played that game. Is pistol that much better than a 14.5?
Also, any thoughts on Colt ARs these days? That's what I had when I owned an AR. Obviously a lot more players making stuff these days, but instead of researching the exact models I might go with a midrange reliable choice where I already know the rifle.
Also, I'm in theory willing to spend a lot, but in practice probably more likely to spend 5-10k. What would you do in my place with 5K? Assume a tactical AR, a poly 9mm and body armor? That the best spent money?

Pin and weld!! Wayyyy more capability out of a 14.5 -- my favorite gun I own is a 14.5. A pistol is NOT better than a 14.5 at all unless you have a very specific set of needs for a short barrel (e.g. you often get in and out of vehicles with your AR and you do so under fire/in a hurry). A good 14.5 with a good optic is a 500yd gun all day; a pistol usually drops that to 300-400ish, assuming it's a quality 11.5.
I don't like them nearly as much as I like other manufacturers -- paying more for rollmark and less for features. literally name what you're willing to drop on an AR and I'll drop you links lol.
Yes, that's exactly what.

I know where you are, lol -- at least I'm fairly sure I remember. I also happen to recall from fucking forever ago on tinychat that you're overweight -- getting in shape is one of the best things you can do in this arena because all the gear in the world won't do shit for you if you get gassed on a set of stairs. I won't belabor the point but I can give you any advice you need in that area.
Guns are solid. Gonna rec some attachments to the guns, ignore if you already have.
1. Sling, light and foregrip for the BCM:
- Ferro Slingster -- $55: https://www.skdtac.com/Ferro-Concepts-The-Slingster-Updated-p/fer.113.htm
- Light -- $430: https://www.opticsplanet.com/surefire-scout-light-500-lumens-white-light.html
- Grip options: https://bravocompanyusa.com/vertical-grips-hand-stops/
- Also consider getting a Vortex Razor 1-10 ($2,000-2,300) or an ATACR 1-8 ($2,800) for the BCM.
2. light for the P226 -- $270: https://www.opticsplanet.com/surefire-x300-ultra-led-handgun-long-gun-weaponlight-500-lumens-w-universal-moun.html
3. Bipod for Ruger American -- $45: https://www.amazon.com/UTG-High-pro-Shooters-Bipod-Rubber/dp/B001BR4VME
4. Plate carrier. Here's where you have to figure out part of how you want to set up your plate carrier. It's fairly personalized -- what I like on mine may be very different than you want on yours. At a minimum, I'd do the Kangaroo panel, side pouches and then get a radio pocket, some 5.56 pouches (which strap onto the lasercuts all over the carrier), and maybe a few utility pouches. This gives you the ability to add carrying capacity as needed, but don't do so unnecessarily -- you should try to go as slick as possible. All told, you're looking at around $700 here.
- LBT G3 Plate Carrier -- $355: https://lbtinc.com/collections/g3
- Kangaroo panel -- $70: https://lbtinc.com/collections/g3/products/6904b
- Side pouches -- $70: https://lbtinc.com/collections/g3/products/2739qk
- 5.56 speed draw pouches (only need one or two of these) -- $37: https://lbtinc.com/collections/apchs/products/6146
- 5.56 pouches -- $45: https://lbtinc.com/collections/rifle-magazine-pouches/products/9010?variant=16404313079851
- Radio pocket -- $55: https://lbtinc.com/collections/radio-pouches/products/6015d
- Utility pouches: https://lbtinc.com/collections/utlp
5. Hesco 4800 Large 10x12 shooter cut plates x2 -- $2,600: https://sabersolutions.com/collections/hesco-armor/products/hesco-4800-level-iv-standalone?variant=21332281720912

Ok.
1. KP9 recs:
- Holosun 403 dot -- $140: https://www.joeboboutfitters.com/Holosun-Paralow-HS403B-Red-Dot-Sight-with-Push-But-p/holo-hs403b.htm
- If you have the mlok rail option, put this light on -- $170: https://www.patriotoutfitters.com/streamlight-pro-tac-rail-mount-hl-x-weapon-light
2. DSA FAL recs:
- Vortex Strike Eagle 1-8 -- $500: https://vortexoptics.com/vortex-strike-eagle-1-8x24-ar-bdc3.html
- If you have the mlok or picatinny rail options -- there are like 50 different DSA FALs and I neglected to ask which you have -- put this light on -- $170: https://www.patriotoutfitters.com/streamlight-pro-tac-rail-mount-hl-x-weapon-light
- I'd stick a grip on there if able, given the size of the FAL handguard; pick one that suits the way you run your gun: https://bravocompanyusa.com/vertical-grips-hand-stops/
- if this is in 16" or under and has mounting rail, this is a great do-it-all main gun
3. Plate Carrier. Obviously carrier setup has plenty of personal preference involved; in my opinion, you should have at least 4 mags, the ability to throw some things in pockets (e.g. notepad, phone, batteries, multitool, maps, GPS, any grenades, cordage if you'll need fast access, zip ties, etc.), and potentially pistol pocket/holster, pistol mags, radio, etc. I'm unsure if the below-linked pouches fit AK mags, but there are reviews saying they do. Alternatively, if you want to grab a chest rig as well (or if you aren't going to run plates, just get this), grab an AVS chest rig (linked below) and attach it to the JPC; no separate pouches, less hassle, but less customizable. Max you're looking at here is around $700, and could easily be as low as $400 if you're going minimalist.
- Crye JPC 2.0 -- $250: https://www.cryeprecision.com/ProductDetail/blc06602lg0_jpc-20
- Crye AVS Chest rig -- $400: https://www.cryeprecision.com/ProductDetail/avscr102000_avs-detachable-chest-rig
- longer mag pouch -- $54: https://www.cryeprecision.com/ProductDetail/sps06802000_152bottle-pouch
- shorter mag pouch -- $52: https://www.cryeprecision.com/ProductDetail/sps06702000_556762mbitr-pouch
- Frag/utility pouch -- $45: https://www.cryeprecision.com/ProductDetail/sps01302000_frag-pouch
4. Hesco Level 3 Shooter Cut 10x12 plates -- $405 x2: https://store.atarmor.com/Hesco_3800_Level_III_plate_p/hs-3800.htm
5. Peltor Sport Tac 500 electronic hearing protection (if you don't already have good electronic earpro) -- $120: https://www.amazon.com/Peltor-Electronic-Protector-Bluetooth-Protection/dp/B06W56YRWJ
6. Solatac Multi-Casualty first aid kit (add ibuprofen and tylenol to this) -- $270: https://solatac.com/home/index.php/product/multi-cas-kit/
7. Five CATourniquets (add 3 to main med kit, keep two on you in pockets/pouches when shit kicks off) -- $150: https://www.narescue.com/combat-application-tourniquet-c-a-t.html
If, at this point, your guns had rails and you bought all attachments, and you went all out on the plate carrier, you are now out of money and your total is $2,960. If, however, you didn't have space for any of the non-optic attachments, we still have $370 to play with, plus ($700-n) where n = amount you spent on the plate carrier. So I'll give you a few more options.
8. Blue force micro trauma kit (basic supplies, molle mount -- don't use to treat things when you have access to the big solatac kit) -- $130: https://www.blueforcegear.com/medical-items.html
9. Range finder (to use with the M91) -- $170: https://www.cabelas.com/shop/en/bushnell-prime-1300-rangefinder
10. Fieldcraft micro survival kit -- $80: https://fieldcraftsurvival.com/collections/accessories/products/fieldcraft-survival-minimalist-survival-kit
11. Five to ten gas cans (depending on your vehicle/space) -- $125-250: https://www.amazon.com/GarageBOSS-GB351-Gallon-Press-Pour/dp/B07GBBG5LZ/
You are now almost certainly out of money, as that leaves you with up to $630 in additional gear. Lmk if any questions or need substitutions.

Alright. If you mean that you are interested only in firearms recs and not gear, then in lieu of the gear I'm about to recommend, skip to the bottom of the list for additional guns. I'm assuming you already have a CCW holster for the Springfield; if not, get that between items 8 and 9.
1. Any of the following for under $900 -- but prioritize ones with a longer handguard/rail like the first or second link:

2. Sling for rifle -- $15: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071W3P55P/

5. Streamlight light/mount/button for rifle -- $170: https://www.patriotoutfitters.com/streamlight-pro-tac-rail-mount-hl-x-weapon-light
6. Viper tactical chest rig -- $60: https://www.military1st.com/bvchrigsopscoy-viper-special-ops-chest-rig-coyote.html
7. Solatac Multi-Casualty first aid kit -- $270: https://solatac.com/home/index.php/product/multi-cas-kit/
8. Three CATourniquets (add one to main med kit, keep two on you in pockets/pouches when shit kicks off) -- $90: https://www.narescue.com/combat-application-tourniquet-c-a-t.html
You are now at $2,140. Wanna keep going?
9. Ruger 10/22 -- $230: https://www.sportsmans.com/shooting-gear-gun-supplies/rifles/ruger-1022-carbine-blackgray-semi-automatic-rifle-22-long-rifle/p/1538005

10. Five gas cans -- $125: https://www.amazon.com/GarageBOSS-GB351-Gallon-Press-Pour/dp/B07GBBG5LZ/
You are now up to $2,955.
If you want only gun recs, here's another of those:
11. Thompson/Center bolt action in .308 or Creedmoor -- $550: https://www.tcarms.com/firearms/bolt-action-rifles/venture/venture-ii

Why do you need this much prep weaponry? In Civil War II isn't what you really need the ability to get to safer territory? If you're actually going to fight, wouldn't the armories (military, guard, police) be opened to combatants soon after conflicts started?
The US military still has 5-10 million small arms in mothballs, going back to M14s (some sources say there are still even some commissioned M1 Carbines in dimly lit corners).
There are 1-2 civilian guns per civilian. In Civil war II, those get spread out too.
Guns wont be hard to come by.

Having shot both, ljl at that comparison. You're right that having a gun at all is the most important part; I've shot three different Andersons that immediately come to mind (multiple times with two of them), and EVERY SINGLE fucking time I've had a failure of some sort. Fuck that. An Aero or Sig is a much better comparison, and there's a reason I've been recommending them for anyone on a real budget.
You're right though that the cool factor makes this more fun.
And yes, all of those things matter much more; I still want reliable equipment.

I live in a rural/exurb area on 5 acres, among some farmland and forest, 50 miles outside of a major metro. There are no meaningful local gun laws. I own a Ruger Mini 14 with a good 1-4x scope and several 10 and 30 round magazines, Browning Citori 20 gauge, Beretta Silver Pigeon 12 gauge and Glock 19 with an aftermarket LED light addition.
I have small children who get into everything. I do not have any tactical gear, food, or survival gear.
I am a very good shot with my shotguns and do registered shoots in skeet and sporting clays. I shoot 2-4x per month all year. I have not shot my rifle or pistol in several years.
I have an agreement with my shitlib wife: I can have as many guns in the house as I want as long as I do not keep ammo in the house. I have two boxes of twenty rounds of .223 Rem in a safe location offsite (for example, my office as a solo practitioner).
What should I improve for $1,000?

- (If your children are the reason you have no tactical gear, ignore this.) Viper tactical chest rig -- $60: https://www.military1st.com/bvchrigsopscoy-viper-special-ops-chest-rig-coyote.html
- Solatac Multi-Casualty first aid kit -- $270: https://solatac.com/home/index.php/product/multi-cas-kit/
- 800 rounds of 5.56 -- $450: http://www.sgogunsandammo.com/product-p/wm855200.htm
- 200 rounds of 9mm -- $125: https://dl-ammo.com/product/patriot-defense-9mm-115-grain-full-metal-jacket-250-rounds-reman/
TOTAL: $905.
Honestly, given your living situation and budget, you don't need many more guns or a lot of bugout gear, you need to re-familiarize with what you have. If you already had an AR and ammo, I'd honestly tell you to just spend the money on taking a carbine course with some qualified people* -- the problem is you don't have an AR. If you are a strong shot at skeet, it shouldn't be terribly hard to become serviceable with an AR. Do a lot of dryfire work if your living space allows, and shoot (on your land, if able); reserve half of your ammo. You can spend 10% of your remaining training budget (so 40 rounds carbine, 10 rounds pistol) fucking around/getting comfortable; the rest should be spent on drills. Here's some info on how you should structure your training: https://autbellumgroup.com/how-to-get-better-at-shooting-on-a-low-budget/

- Sleeping pad -- $45: https://www.rei.com/product/829826/therm-a-rest-z-lite-sol-sleeping-pad
- Poncho/shelter -- $40: https://www.amazon.com/USGI-Industries-Military-Emergency-Survival/dp/B083YNW98M/
- Water container, either a canteen or bladder; I like this one; MSR 4 liter water reservoir -- $40: https://www.amazon.com/MSR-Dromedary-Bag-Water-Reservoir/dp/B01MXWBDLV?th=1
- Food; you can get MREs, or get 5 pounds of beef jerky and some of these bars -- just make sure you have some non-perishable food ready to go in case you have to hit the road: https://www.sosproducts.com/SOS-food-bar-p/350237.htm
- Solar phone charger -- $40: https://www.amazon.com/26800mAh-Riapow-Wireless-Portable-Flashlight/dp/B088WG2VXT/

You're now at a total of $7,386; however, that assumes you spent $600 on the pistol (I saw several for $520), $1,900 on the rifle (I saw some recently sold for $1,750), and maxed out plate carrier expense at $700; if you in fact did so, then skip everything from item 15 except the backpack, the micro kit, the lifestraw, and the poncho.

Exurbs
Ruger 10/22 with a handful of 25 round mags and a sling
S&W 642
Probably about 500 rounds of .22 ammo and 100 rounds of .38 +p ammo
Good hiking backpack
Assortment of folding knives and Bowie knives
Because I live in the far flung exurbs in a fairly big house with a wife/kids, I always sort of planned for the "bug in" rather than "bug out" route and I have like 6 months worth of food/water/candles here. Figured I would have immediate family (who all have guns/ammo) come to my house to bunker/fortify together if the world fell apart.
$1k budget

Bug in is absolutely correct. You may need to be able to go get the others though.
What you rally need is an AR, a dot/light/grip/sling, mags and ammo, a chest rig, AND some med gear. $1,000 isn't enough for all that. That said, I don't know what kind of weapons your family would be bringing; if one of them is a gun nut with 15 ARs, you don't need guns, you need med gear. So I'm going to give you two options, and you pick based on what you think more necessary for your situation.
OPTION A:
1. Get one of the following ARs.
- Do not pay more than $600 for these: https://www.gunbroker.com/item/882135685 / https://www.gunbroker.com/item/882183530 / https://gunbroker.com/item/881944432
- Do not pay more than $700 for these: https://www.gunbroker.com/item/882144163 / https://www.gunbroker.com/item/879281168 / https://www.gunbroker.com/item/882056158 / https://www.gunbroker.com/item/882148037 / https://www.gunbroker.com/item/881310701 / https://www.gunbroker.com/item/882026681 / https://www.gunbroker.com/item/882016450 / https://www.gunbroker.com/item/881902976 / https://www.gunbroker.com/item/882055771 / https://www.gunbroker.com/item/881676149 / https://www.gunbroker.com/item/881769275 / https://www.gunbroker.com/item/879280970
This is going to require some luck, because you need to get a good deal on one of these at auction. If you can't get an AR within those price parameters, simply move on to option B.
2. Rifle accessories
- Red dot -- $140: https://www.joeboboutfitters.com/Holosun-Paralow-HS403B-Red-Dot-Sight-with-Push-But-p/holo-hs403b.htm
- Sling for rifle -- $15: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071W3P55P/
- sling mount points -- $10: https://www.amazon.com/3-Pack-Swivel-System-Tactical-Swivels/dp/B08JCN5XDY/
- 5 mags for rifle -- $65: https://www.cabelas.com/shop/en/magpul-pmag-30-ar-m4-gen-m2-moe-magazine
- Streamlight light/mount/button for rifle -- $170: https://www.patriotoutfitters.com/streamlight-pro-tac-rail-mount-hl-x-weapon-light
If you got the rifle for $600 or less, you're now out of money; if you got it for $700, replace the light with item 6. You also still need ammo for the rifle.
6. Viper tactical chest rig -- $60: https://www.military1st.com/bvchrigsopscoy-viper-special-ops-chest-rig-coyote.html
OPTION B:
1. Solatac Multi-Casualty first aid kit -- $270: https://solatac.com/home/index.php/product/multi-cas-kit/
- CATourniquets (add three to main med kit, give one to every adult to keep on their person at all times when shit kicks off) -- $150-300: https://www.narescue.com/combat-application-tourniquet-c-a-t.html
2. Five to ten gas cans -- $125-250: https://www.amazon.com/GarageBOSS-GB351-Gallon-Press-Pour/dp/B07GBBG5LZ/
- (fill and keep in trunk/backseat to extend driving range)
3. Radio set -- $130: https://www.amazon.com/BaoFeng-Walkie-Talkie-Earpieces-Programming/dp/B00E4FO2TW/
If you bought ten tourniquets, that's $950. If your relatives are far away, have a plan for getting them to your house, and make sure they know they're coming to your place lol. And make sure they bring all of their guns.

Suburbs, kinda dense area. own ~30 guns mostly older military bolt actions and semi autos (SKS, Garand, enfield, mosins, etc). Couple sporting shotguns which can be swapped with shorter barrels as well.
Budget: idk like $5k if I need anything else. I think NVG or a transferable machine gun are probably the only things I'm missing, but those are big money investments with very limited use cases
Primary 1 - 10.3" AR build w/ silencer. Foregrip, stream light strobe, bushnell red dot (lmao) Keep 10 mags loaded with Hornady TAP or similar barrier blind LE ammo. Also have a 16" 6.8 SPC upper for this that wears a light 2-7x vortex scope and long throw green light.
Secondary 1 - CZ P09, inforce APL, suppressor sights, threaded barrel, loaded with 3 mags of 147 +P HST
PDW: CZ Scorpion Evo II SBR with silencer, binary trigger, sig romeo red dot, magpul VFG.
Armor - Hesco 4410 in a mid-range plate carrier, slick but has mag pouches integrated in the cummerbund. Wanted to be able to wear it under a jacket or sweater.
Hydration bladder/mini backpack with a knife, IFAK, poncho, sewing kit, fire starters, cordage, etc. This is my hunting kit, I'm usually tinkering with everything inside based on the season you'd see bug spray, sun screen, hand warmers, space blanket, etc.
Merrill Zion boots, got them this season for hunting, I like the trail runner comfort with a little more ankle support.
Full set of sitka camo, for basically all seasons.

You're basically set, but you know that. I'll give you some basic suggestions but leave the specifics up to you
- better dot on the AR (MRO or Holosun is fine)
- more med gear (the Solatac multi-cas kit I keep poasting really is the best deal I've found)
- NODs (less narrow use case than an auto sear; tremendous advantage but expensive)
- better equip your vehicle to go offroad. The following assumes you have a truck; if not, do what you can in your SUV:
• auxiliary fuel tank or spare gas cans
• portable air compressor
• grill guard/heavy duty aftermarket bumper
• skid plate
• fully equipped toolbox with battery powered tools (e.g. cordless impact drill with socket set, basic handtools, heavy duty bolt cutters and chainsaw (60cc / 20"+ bar), etc.)
• solar panel (like https://www.goalzero.com/shop/portable-solar-panels/nomad-100-solar-panel/ + https://www.goalzero.com/shop/last-chance-gear/goal-zero-yeti-400-portable-power-station/ or similar) to charge aforementioned tools without burning fuel/truck battery
- if you're planning to bug in rather than bug out, then have a water filtration plan
- Garmin with topo maps
You're by far the best set person so far.

Let's say I have $5k I want to spend.
I already have a 9mm, a very capable and reliable offroad vehicle, and intermediate camping gear and abilities. I live in a city of 1.5M, but not downtown. I am only an hour away from the forest. 4-5 hours to remote forest I could probably live in.
I'm guessing I should buy a hunting rifle (and learn to hunt), maybe a tear drop, a portable space heater, and a bunch of Jerry cans. I plan on doing to nomadic road warrior thing if the forest doesn't work out.

I wouldn't go with a hunting rifle first; you'll have zero CQC capability with a 9mm and a bolt action against somebody kitted up as I've suggested above.
I'd also be careful about assuming you can just live off the land; most game within a 100 mile radius of every major city is going to be gone in a month if there's a food shortage.
If you wanna get a teardrop, that's gonna run you $5,000 by itself -- assuming you get an old one without many options. I'm going to assume your $5k budget doesn't include the camper. Additionally, if you're considering a camper, I'm assuming you have a pickup. Give these bed toppers a look: https://atoverland.com/pages/at-summit-truck-topper -- not as many amenities as a camper, but you also don't have to worry about taking a trailer off road. Here's what I'd do with $5,000 if you wanna do the road warrior thing.

Some of the rifles I've linked on gunbroker have since sold; search gunbroker for those models (easiest to do by simply plugging in the manufacturer and nothing else, then sorting by price high to low, and then clicking through pages and looking for the models I recommended) and simply don't pay more than I suggested
Some of the ammo has sold out as well; search https://ammoseek.com/ and buy accordingly (being sure to limit your search to brass case only -- steel will tear up your gun.)

I have about 25 guns at any time, mostly old WWII battle rifles. I do have a nice AR15 and AR10. I also have 5 handguns. I have been shooting since I was a kid. You give good advice.
I disagree with a few things. You are too hung up on Gucci ARs. Your recommendations are sometimes 8 times the price of an entry level gun that will work. In a civil war, you want to have 4 S&W-15 or 7 PSAs compared to one Gucci boutique rifle with a $900 carbon rail and a hair trigger. It's more useful to equip your wife, your son or your similarly thinking neighbor than it is to have a less gritty trigger or shave a pound or two. Some of the fire control groups you've suggested could buy you a whole new AR-15 and 100 rounds of brass FMJ.
I think you're too into the AR-15. It's the best solution for most people, but often not for people in urban areas or control states. This board has a lot of NY, CA and NJ people. I'd have recommended more pistol caliber carbines for new shooters and shooters in ban states. I love PCC for people who won't be able to get much practice in. Ask a new shooter to shoot to 25 yards with a 9mm Glock. Then ask them to shoot with a 9mm Carbine. You'll go from 2-3 foot groups to 6 inch groups. New shooters also muzzle sweep themselves and others with pistols, but do so less with longguns. I don't think a pistol should be anyone's first weapon. I also wouldn't have dismissed the Mini as quickly. It's a far better gun for some featureless states, because it has a real stock instead of some fin, pistol grip block or NY bar system. Given the height of the assault rifle 15 action and recoil buffer, it is almost impossible to turn an AR-15 from a pistol gripped rifle into something it's not, a rifle with a customary stock without a thumbhole. I agree nobody should buy one instead of a normal AR.
https://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/california-legal-ar-15/ is impossible to hold. I've tried.
I would recommend more nightvision. In Afghanstan, when the Taliban got ahold of some cheap nightvision in 2014 (Russia), our casualty toll went through the roof for a few months.
Your suggestions on handguns are good. Your recommendations to stay at 5.56 and lower are also good. No need for long distance weapons, but that always comes up in discussions like these.

I've elsewhere defended the selection of Gucci ARs, but will do so at more length here.
A) Prices for entry level guns are radically inflated right now, such that polymer lower garbage is selling for $800 on gunbroker; I wouldn't pay $300 for it. This is caused both by general fear and the fact that most retailers are out and there is a shortage. I see no point in somebody dumping even a little bit of money into something that will fail them when they need it -- I made that mistake when I was first getting into guns in my teens. If $700 rifles were selling for $700, I'd be recommending a lot more of those. I agree that having 5 decent guns is better than one gucci gun; the problem is that I don't think that's a possible option right now.
B) I have numerous times recommended cheaper ARs; ctrl-F this thread for "$900" and you'll see that.
C) People here can afford it. Every person to whom I've recommended gucci guns has been someone with a budget that can include them.
Now to the rest. I recommend the AR over other platforms like the Mini because of its modularity; the attachments I've recommended all make it very easy to shoot, even for beginners, and a flashlight is an immense tactical advantage. I agree that the Mini is much better than most or all alternatives where an AR isn't an option. However, I think an AR is vastly preferable to anything else in an urban area, including PCC; anyone who can get one should. As far as recommending PCC, they're certainly an option for anyone in a ban state, and perhaps I should say that; the only poast where I considered it, the guy had a Mini and low budget, so I didn't think that was the best option to maximize his money. I think neglected in your PCC v. pistol calculus is concealability; the only reason I recommend a pistol at all is so that someone can carry concealed if they think the situation demands it. In actual fighting, they're virtually nonexistent.
I recommend nods to anyone I think has the budget for them, but I've shot with a monocular before and it's a very strange thing to be able to see in the dark with one eye and not the other; it takes a lot of reps to get used to. That's why I've recommended dual tubes. Those also take a larger budget. I think anyone who finishes purchasing the AR, tac gear/armor, and the survival/mobility/med gear should absolutely buy NVG if they're willing to spend more money.
I think long distance is very useful in rural environs, but most poasters are not there.

You're working with May information. Supplies are not back to normal, but they're within $100 of normal (and at normal for pre Trump slump).*
Sig M400 AR with Romeo5 for $830: https://gun.deals/product/sig-sauer-m400-tread-556-nato-m-lok-301-71999-e-mail-quote This would have been a reasonable deal 2 years ago.
PSA Entry at $500. This should be $450, but not terrible. This gun is the gun range rental owner's choice. Stop in at a range that rents. These things cost $450 and last 30,000 rounds. https://palmettostatearmory.com/psa-pa15-16-nitride-m4-carbine-556-nato-classic-ar15-rifle-black.html
Colt in stock for $1.1K. https://lockedloaded.com/product/m4-carbine-5.56mm-16-m4-a3 Wouldn't be my purchase, but others love them.
Ruger and S&W ARs in stock on gun.deals for under $750.
I also agree with you a PCC or mini isn't the best choice. They are much better choices in California and several other states. 10 rounds you can aim is much better then 10 rounds of "AR" which is like aiming a 2x4.
98% of this stuff, we agree.
~Firearms lawyer and pre-86 owner.
*Except for 9mm and 5.56 ammo, which is still stupid expensive.

You're right that the Sig is an ok deal (although if you click the link to the actual seller, they're not including the dot); the PSA is out of stock, and I'm trying to only recommend immediately available stuff. You'll also see if you click through some of the links that I've recommended Sig M400s throughout the thread for those on a budget.
If somebody has other adults in the house they want to arm, getting three $800 guns is better than one $2,400 gun; if they don't tell me that's one of their objectives, I'm going to assume they're the only shooter.
Agree entirely for ban states or those where AR access is otherwise heavily impeded.

Close the ziplock and knead the vaseline into the cotton balls until they're thoroughly saturated; add more vaseline as needed. Add a 5 pack of bic lighters and this is set.

Not going to drop links for everything like dots since you evidently know where to buy stuff -- if you'd like links, lmk and I can fish em up for you.
0. If your ARs don't have lights, grab those.
1. I'd put an LPVO and offset red dot on the ARs, unless one is very short barreled and then I'd just put a dot on it.
- LPVO: Vortex Razor Gen 3 1-10; Nightforce 1-8 ATACR; Leupold Mk6; Schmidt & Bender PM2 1-8.
- Dot: Aimpoint Micro T2; Trijicon MRO; Holosun 503.
2. Body armor and a plate carrier.
- Plates: Hesco 4800 level 4s, in 10x12 swimmer's cut
- Carrier: Either go LBT if you want the best, Spiritus if you want the second best and you're comfortable ordering all of the parts piecemeal, or the JPC 2.0.
3. Night vision -- get any of the following:
- $12k: https://www.nightvision4less.com/dtnvg-31-l3-omni-viii-unfilmed-white-phosphor-aviation-grade-night-vision-goggle-gen-3-agm-hs.aspx
- $7.3k: https://www.nightvision4less.com/agm-nvg-40-3aw1-dual-tube-nv-goggle-gen-3-auto-gated-white-phosphor-level-1.aspx
- $4.3k: https://www.nightvision4less.com/pvs-7-night-vision-goggle-gen-3ag-hand-select-white-phosphor.aspx
4. Get a civilian PEQ:
- $2.7k: https://tnvc.com/shop/steiner-dbal-a4-class1-3r-ir-laser/
- $1.5k: https://tnvc.com/shop/ldi-dbal-d2-class-1-ir-laser/
5. Get drones; drones allow you to surveil area better than pretty much anything else.
- infrared -- $1.9k: https://www.crutchfield.com/S-9oRD6ilkRGX/p_333PF72812/Parrot-ANAFI-Thermal.html
- photo/video -- $1k: https://store.dji.com/product/mavic-air-2
- very small drone that does photo/video -- $500: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0899K15G9/
6. Outfit your truck.
- camper bed topper -- $9k: https://atoverland.com/pages/at-summit-truck-topper
- decked bed storage -- $1.4k: https://decked.com/
- auxiliary fuel tank or spare gas cans
- portable air compressor and tire patch kit
- grill guard/heavy duty aftermarket bumper
- skid plate
- rock lights/light bars
- fully equipped toolbox with battery powered tools (e.g. cordless impact drill with socket set, basic handtools, heavy duty bolt cutters and chainsaw (at least 60cc / 20"+ bar), etc.)
- solar panel (like https://www.goalzero.com/shop/portable-solar-panels/nomad-100-solar-panel/ + https://www.goalzero.com/shop/last-chance-gear/goal-zero-yeti-400-portable-power-station/ or similar) to charge aforementioned tools without burning fuel/truck battery
7. Outfit your land.
- shelter?
- off-the-grid water?
- off-the-grid electricity?
- border monitoring? (recommend some sort of surveillance setup along roads)
- livestock?
- food storage? (get a deep freeze or 5, so that if you kill, say, an elk or a steer, none of it goes to waste)
- fuel? (I recommend getting a large standing fuel tank you can have filled by a truck order -- then you're not reliant on buying gas/diesel)
- welding/machining shop setup? If you can get a mill, a lathe, and you can weld/solder, you can fix any mechanical problem you have.
Should give you some ideas. Main thing is to be able to get to your land and then keep everyone else off of it.

Alright. As with above, some of this is gun stuff, some of it is med gear/survival gear. Some of the items will be much more expensive than others; buy what you want.
1. finish out the AR build. If you already have an item here, skip and move to the next:
- minimum of 6 mags for the AR, 10 is better: https://gunmagwarehouse.com/hexmag-233-5-56-30-round-polymer-magazine.html
- sling -- $80: https://ferroconcepts.com/products/the-slingster +
- light -- $405: the modlite PKW 18650 is a better light, but it's rechargeable and doesn't work with CR123 batteries, so it requires an outlet; the surefire can run off batteries which you can throw a pack of in a backpack and be set for awhile if you're not near a power source: https://www.amazon.com/Mil-Spec-Switch-Socket-Scoutlight-Weaponlights-Activation/dp/B01B5E5NBK/ + https://www.amazon.com/dp/B086XKYTJ4/
----- if you decide you'd like a cheaper ($180) option, try out: https://www.clouddefensive.com/product/lcs-streamlight-hlx-kit/?attribute_color=Flat+Black
- ammo: you're probably gonna pay $1 a round right now; if you need ammo, check out ammoseek.com
.
2. get a pistol to CCW; if you're not going to carry, this matters way less and should be bumped down below item 13. get one of the following:
• Archon Type B ($900)
• Sig P320XC ($650): https://www.glockstore.com/Sig-P320-XCompact
• Sig P365 or P365XL ($600-650): https://battlehawkarmory.com/product/sig-sauer-3659bxr3-p365-9mm-luger-3.10-101-black-nitron-black-stainless-steel-black-polymer-grip
• Glock 19 or 26 ($650) if you want 9mm; Glock 23 if you want it in .40 S&W due to 9mm availability
• S&W M&P 9 M2.0 Compact ($600): https://www.primaryarms.com/smith-and-wesson-mp9-m2.0-compact-9mm-pistol-black
• Springfield Hellcat ($600): https://gunprime.com/products/springfield-armory-hellcat-9mm-micro-compact-hc9319b
- light ($130): https://www.amazon.com/Streamlight-69260-Weapon-Tactical-Flashlight/dp/B00B8Q31UQ
- CCW holster of some sort -- shop around once you pick a pistol, and I can give suggestions once you have a gun in mind
.
3. at this point, you should decide whether you're going to get body armor; I recommend it if you have the cash, but it's not a necessity if it means you can't get the rest of the stuff on this list. If you do get armor, here are the options I recommend:
- Hesco 4800 Large Shooter Cut 10x12 plates x2 ($2,600): https://sabersolutions.com/collections/hesco-armor/products/hesco-4800-level-iv-standalone?variant=21332281720912
- Hesco 3800 Shooter Cut 10x12 plates x2 ($950): https://store.atarmor.com/Hesco_3800_Level_III_plate_p/hs-3800.htm
.
4. If you got plates, you're gonna need a carrier.
- grab a JPC 2.0 (in large, since you got large plates) ($250): https://cryeprecision.com/ProductDetail/blc06602lg0_jpc-20
- how you set up your carrier is personal preference, but typically you'll want the capacity to carry at least four mags, and a few additional pockets in which you can put things; I'd get this front flap ($65) https://cryeprecision.com/ProductDetail/avsdf402000_avs-detachable-flap-m4-flat and these side pouches ($40) https://cryeprecision.com/ProductDetail/blc04302000_mbitr-radio-pouch-set to start; if you realize you have more stuff you need to carry, you can get more pouches (such as a back panel for a camelbak, or something).
.
5. If you didn't get plates (or you just want one for when you don't want to wear plates), you'll need a chest rig; below are a few options:
- Mayflower UW Gen 4 w/ zipper front ($280): https://www.velsyst.com/collections/chest-rigs/products/uw-chest-rig-split-front-gen-v
- Mayflower UW Gen 4 without zipper ($205): https://www.velsyst.com/collections/chest-rigs/products/uw-chest-rig-gen-iv
- TYR Tactical Assaulter's Chest Rig ($150): http://www.tyrtactical.com/products/details/chest-rigs-sr/tyr-tactical-pico-ds-assaulters-chest-rack/
- Viper Special Ops Chest Rig ($60): https://www.military1st.com/bvchrigsopscoy-viper-special-ops-chest-rig-coyote.html -- I would get this one even if you got plates and a carrier, given how cheap it is.
- There are some other solid ones like the Haley Strategic ones, but they're entirely out of stock and have been for months
.
6. Get a pack. I recommend one of the following:
- Exo Mountain Pack ($650): https://exomtngear.com/collections/packs/products/k3-3200-pack-system?variant=19549186883651 -- this one is the best on the market, and is 180 for hunting, backpacking, survival stuff, everything. You can get larger model (4800 -- the 6400 is massive and more than you'd ever need) if you for some reason feel a need to ruck 80-100lb of gear, but the 3800 is optimal, imo. Expensive, but worth every penny imo.
- Mystery Ranch SATL Assault Pack ($500): https://www.mysteryranch.com/satl-assault-pack -- the only pack on here that imo can compete with the Exo; standard issue for SOCOM for awhile, really great pack.
- Eberlestock F53 Tomahawk Pack ($330): https://eberlestock.com/collections/military/products/f53-tomahawk
- Eberlestock F3M Halftrack Pack ($230): https://eberlestock.com/products/halftrack-backpack
- SOG Prophet 30 Backpack ($230): https://www.tacticalassaultgearstore.com/sog-knives-prophet-30.html
- Nevo 50l Rhino Internal Hiking Backpack ($80): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004VRKWR4/?tag=bootbomb.com-20 -- this is worse than any of the others listed, but if you want to go super cheap, this is a way to do it
- get a rain cover for your pack ($40): https://eberlestock.com/products/featherweight-pack-rain-cover?variant=16875817173043
.
7. Fill your pack with the following:
- Fire kit. This is just a gallon ziplock, which you should fill a quarter of the way with petroleum jelly, and then fill to the halfway mark with cotton balls. Close the ziplock and knead the vaseline into the cotton balls until they're thoroughly saturated; add more vaseline as needed. Add a 5 pack of bic lighters to the ruck and this is set.
- Sawyer Water Filter Mini ($25): https://www.amazon.com/Sawyer-Products-Water-Filtration-System/dp/B00TOX6UM6?th=1
- Water bladder of some sort; I like this one, but you could also get a camelbak or something similar; MSR 4 liter water reservoir -- $40: https://www.amazon.com/MSR-Dromedary-Bag-Water-Reservoir/dp/B01MXWBDLV?th=1
- Poncho (doubles as a shelter/tarp) ($35): https://www.amazon.com/Military-Tactical-P20000mm-Waterproof-Material/dp/B083Q6MJD3/
- 200' of paracord ($25): https://www.amazon.com/PARACORD-PLANET-Mil-Spec-Commercial-Paracord/dp/B00ACL4VJI/
- 0° sleeping bag -- if in colder climate, you may want to get a better one than this; I can recommend a few -- ($90): https://www.sportsmansguide.com/product/index/slumberjack-ronin-0degf-mummy-sleeping-bag?a=2157703
- Sleeping pad ($45): https://www.rei.com/product/829826/therm-a-rest-z-lite-sol-sleeping-pad
- Food; you can get MREs, or get 5 pounds of beef jerky and some of these bars -- just make sure you have some non-perishable food ready to go in case you have to hit the road: https://www.sosproducts.com/SOS-food-bar-p/350237.htm
- Solar phone charger ($40): https://www.amazon.com/26800mAh-Riapow-Wireless-Portable-Flashlight/dp/B088WG2VXT/
- Garmin GPS -- $250: https://www.amazon.com/Garmin-GPSMAP-High-Sensitivity-GLONASS-Receiver/dp/B00HWL9BQ4/
- Headlamp ($15): https://www.amazon.com/GearLight-Headlamp-Flashlight-S500-PACK/dp/B07QGRWZNB/
- Jetboil ($120): https://jetboil.johnsonoutdoors.com/stoves-systems/flash-cooking-system?id=566 + pick up some fuel in person at REI -- this is far from essential but it's convenient
.
8. Solatac Multi-Casualty first aid kit (add ibuprofen and tylenol to this) ($270): https://solatac.com/home/index.php/product/multi-cas-kit/ -- all the med gear you need to treat most common injuries for your family
.
9. Five CATourniquets (add 3 to main med kit, keep two on you in pockets/pouches when shit kicks off) ($150): https://www.narescue.com/combat-application-tourniquet-c-a-t.html
.
10. Solatac IFAK ($65): https://solatac.com/home/index.php/product/black-multi-cam-bok-filled/ -- attach to plate carrier or belt
.
11. ESEE 4 knife ($115): https://www.bladehq.com/item--ESEE-RAT-Cutlery-RC4--4378 -- you can carry this on the plate carrier or on your belt, but you should have it on one of those; I like belt.
.
12. Peltor Sport Tac 500 electronic hearing protection ($120): https://www.amazon.com/Peltor-Electronic-Protector-Bluetooth-Protection/dp/B06W56YRWJ
.
13. Five to ten gas cans (depending on your vehicle/space -- you need space for the rest of this list too) ($125-250): https://www.amazon.com/GarageBOSS-GB351-Gallon-Press-Pour/dp/B07GBBG5LZ/ -- this extends your driving range significantly; when things start getting bad you can fill them and place them in your trunk
.
14. Baofeng + antenna ($110): https://www.amazon.com/BTECH-UV-5X3-Tri-Band-Amateur-Earpiece/dp/B01J2W4JUI/ + https://www.amazon.com/Nagoya-NA-320A-2M-1-25M-70CM-144-220-440Mhz-BTECH/dp/B01K10B9XK/ + https://www.amazon.com/BTECH-PC03-Genuine-Programming-Cable/dp/B00HUB0ONK/
.
15. Salomon Quest boots ($230): https://www.rei.com/product/127770/salomon-quest-4d-3-gtx-hiking-boots-mens -- best boots I've ever worn, and if things go to shit you need footwear that can take a beating in the event you're outside
.
16. Shooting gloves ($45): https://www.outdoorresearch.com/us/ironsight-sensor-gloves-266842?cat=136,26,6 -- shooting fast gets the gun hot and gloves help a lot
.
17. NVGs; these are expensive, you don't have to have them, but if you do, it's an enormous advantage:
- $12k: https://www.nightvision4less.com/dtnvg-31-l3-omni-viii-unfilmed-white-phosphor-aviation-grade-night-vision-goggle-gen-3-agm-hs.aspx
- $7.3k: https://www.nightvision4less.com/agm-nvg-40-3aw1-dual-tube-nv-goggle-gen-3-auto-gated-white-phosphor-level-1.aspx
- $4.3k: https://www.nightvision4less.com/pvs-7-night-vision-goggle-gen-3ag-hand-select-white-phosphor.aspx
.
18. If you get NVGs, you should attach a laser to your rifle with which to aim, because it is visible through your night vision:
- $2.7k: https://tnvc.com/shop/steiner-dbal-a4-class1-3r-ir-laser/
- $1.5k: https://tnvc.com/shop/ldi-dbal-d2-class-1-ir-laser/
.
I could give you some more guns if you want a well rounded collection, starting with a 6.5 Creedmoor bolt or gas gun, but if you get the above you're more than set.

Absolutely move, brother.
Well, depends on the nvg you get. If you get the cheapest one I listed, which is a two eye monocular, it's impossible to really aim through the sight very well, based on where you would have to align the gun. If you get a different monocular nvg like the PVS14, you can aim through it but running a single eye monocular comes with its own problems -- one eye sees black and one eye sees through the tube, and it takes a lot of reps to get used to this. If you get nvg with two tubes, it becomes viable to aim through the sight. However, I would still recommend getting the laser. The reason for this is twofold: first, it's much easier to aim with a laser than it is just through a sight with nods; second, both of those models contain an infrared laser, as well as a visible one, meaning that if you use the infrared laser, it is not visible to anyone who does not have night vision on. There's also an illuminator, which is essentially an infrared flashlight that is used to make areas much easier to see through the nvg. They really make things easier if you're running night vision because nvg relies on amplifying existing light; if you're indoors and there is no light to magnify, you're still not gonna see shit unless you have an IR illuminator, which acts as a flashlight that's invisible to the naked eye. I would get one.
You can also get the B.E. Meyers MAWL (get it with the EC2 tailcap): https://tnvc.com/shop/b-e-meyers-mawl-c1-ir-visible-laser/ -- see this video on it: https://youtu.be/7TLLXOpknd8?t=200
I would watch the video for a good demonstration of why a laser/illuminator is useful, even if you don't want to buy the MAWL (although the MAWL is probably the best available civilian IR and laser device -- I'd buy that if you have the cash).

Do what you have to do, but there's not enough money in the world for me to live in any of the 8 states with magazine laws. You probably have options elsewhere, if you choose to explore them.
You don't have to have NVG -- that's why I asked budget. If you truly have no budget, I'd tell you all this and more (drones, land, vehicles, fuel, a helicopter if you have a team of people) but realistically 99.999% of people have a budget. If you really want NVG (and I think they're worth getting), get the other stuff and budget for them over time. If I wanted decent NVG on a budget, I'd get, in this order:
- $3k: https://www.nightvision4less.com/atn-pvs7-night-vision-goggle-gen-3.aspx
- HHV ATE ($500): https://www.hardheadveterans.com/products/ballistic-helmet + Wilcox L4 G24 ($500): https://tnvc.com/shop/wilcox-l4-g24-mount-w-low-profile-breakaway-base/
- B.E. Meyers MAWL with the EC2 tailcap ($2.7k): https://tnvc.com/shop/b-e-meyers-mawl-c1-ir-visible-laser/
That has a total cost of about $7k, which is a lot but also budgetable over time. If you want a significant performance upgrade for 1k more, switch out those NVG with these: $4.3k: https://www.nightvision4less.com/pvs-7-night-vision-goggle-gen-3ag-hand-select-white-phosphor.aspx
I would rather have NVG and no plates than the reverse; you can evade trouble very well by moving at night with NVG if your enemy doesn't have them, and minimize need for plates (which are most valuable in urban combat/CQC, which you can avoid). However, I put them last because the initial entry cost is so high that a lot of people just won't get them.
If you can't do NVG, then don't; get the stuff you can and prep as well as you can.
