Buy a new bimmer or volvo, get a slight discount, they pay for you to go to the factory in Germany or Sweden to pick it up and then they ship it back to the states

talk me out of considering this

It seems gay, probably some flyertalk-esque car forum with epic autist poasts on the matter. What do you even get out of it? No sales tax?

Brother did this with his then fiancee. She bought a Volvo in Sweden and they drove it through Europe for a few weeks and dropped it off to be shipped home. they enjoyed it at least.

It substitutes as your rental in Europe, so in a sense if you're taking 2-3 weeks there it saves you a few dollars you'd have spent otherwise. I think, but not sure, that BMW stopped their program. Surprised Volvo would have it given some of their models are now produced in China.

You're putting mileage on your new car and shipping it all over the place. It's not saving you any $.

The program probably lost a lot of luster after Germany/EU become a dumping ground for economic migrants. Also lol at doing this with an ugly ass bmw crossover or plug-in hybrid (or a Volvo for that matter). I could maybe see some bimmer nostalgia enthusiast with a hardon for the E31 doing this but who wants to spend weeks driving around Germany.

Back before I realized the prices on Porsche options were insane I always thought to do this for a 911. Financially, just made more sense to buy used, plus my car has gone up like $5-10k since I bought it. You've got to really be into the notion of paying full freight for the euro delivery experience.
