See, this is the kind of thinking that has led to today's issues with race relations. We can't just ignore or be cool with blatantly racist incidents like this. We need to actively call them out on this BS.

Well, it's not that white men is to "blame" for today's problems, but white men are the largest contributors to them, which we all must acknowledge first and foremost. I am a white male and I acknowledge my white privilege. There are ways we can atone for our past and present sins, including calling out racism like that brought up by TC. I know we all loved Squaresoft during the 90s but one thing I don't miss from them was all of the racist dog whistles included in their games.

I just want to point out that the Chocobos found in the Icicle area are not the best chocobos available, statistically.

The Chocobos found in Mideel are Lv 36 Chocobos, and are the highest levelled chocobos available. They also have the most amount of HP.

So while the Chocobos up in Icicle Area come as a "Wonderful" rating and usually have good racing stats, it is possible for a Great Chocobo to have better speed than a Wonderful Chocobo if you get good RNG when moving the Chocobo into the stables from the pen area.

I'm not arguing that the Wonderful Chocobos are not the best racers, I am arguing that they are not the best battle chocobos.

This in itself is hinting in the legacy of system racism. Not unlike humans, a Northern Nordic Chocobo with lesser stats is apt to be called “wonderful,” while a chocoholic from the lower latitudes, despite being superior, would be known only as “good.” With people, this sort of thing leads to disparate socioeconomic outcomes due to inequality of opportunity. With Chocobos, players like me who underestimated the creators overlook the hidden gems in the “great” subset, not unlike how our institutions overlooked talented minorities for centuries. I applaud Kitase and crew for this subtle nod to those of who truly value diversity and inclusion. To me, it’s not just an idea, but a way of life.
