LIQ is interesting because it's extremely hard to write a good liquidation engine and having a good one is a big advantage. it's one of the reasons FTX is doing so well. and from a developer's perspective, having a liquidation engine "library" you can just plug into your defi app means you don't have to reinvent the wheel.
beyond that, i have no idea. i haven't thought about how much money they could theoretically make from succeeding on a grand scale and being the World's Liquidation Engine.
i might end up aping into it with the hope that all the defi primitives on solana go to the moon |

if you do, they think they'll be paying you approximately ~1% daily interest until the market gets more efficient.
they use the pool of money to take out simultaneous leveraged long and leveraged short positions (in e.g., ETH) in yield farms. this means they can collect yield farm rewards without being exposed to the underlying asset (e.g., ETH).
